Okay.. My father got my mother a digital camera for her birthday. My little sister borrowed it (which she isn't supposed to have in the 1st place). She accidentally sat on it while the lens was retracted. Now the lens is stuck. It won't retract or extend when turned on/off. The lens cover is barely opened. It will still take pics but they are blurry. It says: Try turning camera on/off again. For more info. go to www.hp.com and search the following error code: M537-001. I've tried everything and nothing works. There is nothing pertaining to the error code on the website. I can't afford to replace it and my sister is too young to buy a new one, lol. Help anyone?!

error code is for a compressed lens and auto focus error,

your sister will have to learn not to take things, not to sit on them and to own up to what she has done - then maybe it wont happen again

As you basically gained this digital camera for Christmas, and you probably did no longer drop it, then do no longer something different than to return it to the shop for replace or refund. The digital camera is improper. do no longer attempt any self fix information in this occasion.

Send it in for service. The manufacturers' warranty seldom covers abuse though. If it isn't covered, the repair cost will likely exceed the cost of a new camera.

I don't think you'll be able to fix it yourself. You'll have to send it out to HP for repair. Although camera abuse is not usually covered by warranty, you might get lucky and get it fixed for free (but highly doubtful).

Good luck.

This happened to me with a Kodak so I sent it in and they fixed it for free, but I think they just sent me a new refurbished one. But oh well as long as it was free! Make sure you have your pics saved!
