How can I tell whether or not if I bought a real K-Bar knife?

Question

Once a year I make a habit to buy a knife for my collection of them (most of them are either old past downs from my Dad or are just cheap "Frost Cutlery brand" knifes!) and so when I went to the flea market for $70.00 there was a guy trying to sell me a K-Bar. But I didn't get it but instead got a cheap Frost Cutlery $20.00 knife set (2 knifes in all)!

I know that K-Bar's are a real quality knife (perfect for gutting deer!) that the military uses but for that kind of money I want the real K-Bar, not a cheap made in China replica.

Well, for one thing, the knife will say "KA-BAR" on it.

If it says "K-Bar", you've been ripped off.

Kabars aren't overly expensive. As to their utility for cleaning game, though, I don't know about that. Never tried to clean a deer with a combat knife before.

As to the one fellow mentioning something about "even the famous marine Ka-Bar is no longer actually made by them"....I don't know what sentence means exactly, but Kabar knives are still made in Olean, NY same as always.

The military stopped using the KA-Bar several years ago actually. Even the famous marine Ka-Bar is no longer actually made by them.

Only buy from a reputable dealer, not flea markets or E-bay.

I know that the K-Bar factory is in Olean, New York. If that is the only one?, I don't know. I'm sure if you get one from there, they are as real as they get. Good luck.

It should be marked on the knife*. If its not look for what is marked on it*. It may even say where it was made*.

ka-bars are made in olean NY they arnt 70 bucks........ go to a surplus military store for around 30.00 to 50.00 i have one...... and love it
