I'm considering moving to LA close to the end of 2008 after I graduate highschool so I have a few questions. What parts of LA has all the good clubs, places to eat and fun things to do. Also I need to find out about neighborhoods so what are the Mid-Wilshire and crenshaw areas like?

In general what would it cost to live in LA with a roommate. I'm looking for something in the $700 range.

west los angeles and hollywood have the best clubs. six flaggs magic mountain, universal studios, knotts berry farm, wax museum, are great amusement places. tons of things to see on the hollywood strip of stars too. the mid wilshire/crenshaw areas are urban and have a high crime rate. Stay near the valley of los angeles like north hollywood, sherman oaks, studio city etc. much better rated cities and safer. Apartments here go for 1,400 a month for two bed rooms so $700 a month with a roomate is about right. Good luck!

Jamal, Well everyone says "plan ahead", but you took them too literally...many of the good clubs and places to eat now may be closed in a year and a half....Those places tend to have the life expectancy of a gnat...Crenshaw is one of the longest streets in L.A. and runs through a lot of areas of the city. Most of those areas are not so hot. For fun things to do see the answers in the question above. I suggest a third roommate...then if you combine all your funds you might find some place decent in Mid-Wilshire, but more probably in the Valley. Good Luck--Seniors Rule..

Not to knock you but if you are still in HS keep your options open, the country is an open canvas for you!!!!
Now for the details.... I live in a suburb of LA near Pasadena, it is very expensive!!! When we first moved here 10 years ago our rent was $1300 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apt. I am sure there is cheaper and you metioned Crenshaw not exactly the place you move to. Mid Wilshire is Beverly Hills and $700 won't even get you lunch for a month. We own our house now, a $550,000 house that is the same size of the apt we had, this house would sell for $100, 000 anywhere else in the country. Go to college, come out for spring break do the Hollywood thing then go back and become a doctor to move out here, then you can afford my house!

California is so versatile it is ridiculous. In the LA area, I would prefer to live in Orange County. I lived in Newport Beach for years. As for the 700 dollar rent range, good luck. It is quite expensive out there. Go to www.rent.com and do searches though, you might get lucky.
