witchcraft is using the power of faith that is a gift of God to all humans for selfish purposes and not what it is designed for ... so it is a rebellion against God and glorifying the self ..

witchcraft is prominent among adolescence who feel neglected or abandoned and want a sense of control over a very scary and new time in their lives. Wiccans are promised the fruits of the earth through magic incantations rituals and spells that can control the fate of others. witchcraft really has no connections to christianity, if anything christianity has connections to witchcraft because the later predates the former. it is a powerful coping mechanism used by teens which i think is fine as long as they aren't hurting anyone, and they make friendships practicing their ways. I suppose that witchcraft would theoretically grant its users powers like the biblical characters god and jesus, and if those users are responsible(assuming that witchcraft isn't faux of course)could help the world.

What folks don't seem to get is that there is one only source of energy in this universe. All power and energy originates there. That is God. Pure intelligent energy. The saving graces, the gifts of the Spirit, the power to heal and cast out demons all come from God.
Satan would steal that power and claim it for his own. If he can delude you into thinking you are doing God's will through magic he will. If he can fool you into thinking that using God's power under false pretenses and not honoring the Creator of this power he will.
The bible is very clear about witchcraft and spiritualism. Don't do it. No astrology or seers either.
If you want the power of God to work in your life ask Jesus what He would have you do and then give him the credit and the glory.

Depends what they mean by wanting "to be like Jesus." If they want to, for example, help heal people, then sure, so long as they understand they will not be raising the dead. And, of course, if the person was going to invoke any names, (which is sometimes included in practices but certainly isn't required) it would have to be God or Jesus. I'm certainly not going to say that Jesus would support people turning to other gods, no matter how beneficial the goal.
If they want to be just like Jesus and walk on water and whatnot, they need to watch less TV and get a reality check.
If they want to be spiritually like Jesus, however, that's the place of religion, not witchcraft.
And if they want the powers of Jesus becasue they think it would be nifty and cool, their motivations are seriously whacked. Jesus wasn't trying to be cool.

OK, I realize I am walking into the lions den! Kids are doing what they can to get attention, good or bad. First of all NO ONE who practices witchcraft seriously wants to emulate Jesus. Those teens were indeed "fluffy bunnies" true witches do not flaunt it. True, witchcraft in itself is not evil and we do not worship the imaginary devil. We do wish to help as best we can using herbs and spells (same as focused prayer) to heal. We don't play God, and do not wish to be like God. We leave that to doctors! But I would honestly like to know WHY you can't accept that we are not evil and do not worship evil in any form. Why we can't be accepted for doing good things. I have NEVER deliberately harmed anyone or anything in my life. I won't even kill spiders. Just because someone (of ANY faith) wants to help people do you assume that they want to be like Jesus? Just because our path is different does that mean we do not deserve the respect that should be given to everyone? I will never admonish you because you don't believe as I do, that is your right. Can you do the same in return?

You know, under normal circumstances I'd take a kick at this particular can, but tonight I honestly can't be arsed. What I will say is that assuming your story is true, your pastor is half right. Witchcraft is based on the premise that one can lay one's hands on the fundamental energies of the universe and, with or without the assistance of Deities, bring about change in accordance with one's will. This is NOT the same as "being God" or "having the power of Christ".
Okay, I'm done.

Well, as many times as the Bible speaks against witchcraft/sorcery (Old and New Testaments), one would think it's obvious that that is wrong. But then it seems the Church has been trying so hard to be buddy-buddy with the secular world in order to win them over that they have forgotten how to be the Church.
As for what your pastor said about "witchcraft is not evil, some want to be like God," well, the desire to be like God was what led to Adam and Eve being kicked out of Eden; that's why Eve ate the forbidden fruit.
Jesus said, "Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father" (John 14:12). Nothing there about practicing witchcraft to be like him.

A lot of people I know turn(ed) to Witchcraft because they felt powerless and out of control of their lives. They wanted to feel like they had power over their own lives - and then power over the lives of others.
Witchcraft allowed them to have this.
The truth of the matter is - the power of Witchcraft is not from G-d. Witches turn their backs on G-d and practice how they see fit. They chose their own deities, which are rarely seen as all powerful, and follow them. It often becomes what these deities can do for them - what they can fulfill. Whether money or relationships, good grades or friends. All of it becomes about doing something for them.
Your pastor is severly confused if he proclaims Witchcraft is okay. Witches are not following G-d. I do not believe that they have any real power - some Christians believe that they do and that this power comes from Satan.
Either way, they are turned away from G-d. They do not put their trust in G-d. They do not pray to G-d, praise G-d and ask from G-d. Instead they believe they themselves have power and do not need G-d.
See the problem?

Leviticus 19:31 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.'
Galatians 5:13 But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
Galatians 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Do not turn to the ways of the devil. Turn and run from your church and pastor, as they are not teaching the word of God. Call the 700 Club for prayer and directions to another church.

What kind of church do you go to? This is the craziest thing I've ever heard of!
I used to be Wiccan. People sought me out for floorwashes & bindings. I could read the Tarot cards so well, that I didn't want to know what the question was, or anything about the person making an inquiry. I was so proud of my "powers" that I could control things. Unfortunately, I didn't see what all my powers were costing me.
About 5 years ago, I found Jesus. I used to hear people say they "Found Jesus" and I mocked them. I thought they were mindless sheep who had no control of anything, and accepted their mediocrity. But, I knew that I was wrong, deep down.
I didn't have a huge inspiration. I didn't have a looming problem that happened that made me turn to God. I just realized that I had no control over my life. And I had a LOT of people in my life that needed help. I knew it was too big for me. It made me question where I was getting my "power." It wasn't through God, so where was it coming from?
I cant speak for everyone, but I do think that a lot of people turn to witchcraft for the control over the situation. But I've learned that if I turn my problems to God, my burden is lessened.
Its funny that I get more ostrisized for my belief in God than I did with my belief in witchcraft. But, my life has been more peaceful. God has lead me to Brazil and Mexico witness. My life is richer, and I feel so blessed.
Please reconsider your decision to follow witchcraft. Good luck and God Bless.
