I certainly would. It's nice to sit down either at dinner or at the end of a busy day with a glass of wine. It mellows me out and I usually sleep much better.

I think all alcohol is relaxing because of what it does to your system. However, I think when people drink wine, they are already in a state of mind to relax. Say you are having a nice meal or special dinner or even a holiday dinner. Wine is generally used more for special occasions so your mood is probably set more to relax.
Most people eat at least at some point while they are having wine so you generally don't get too buzzed like having 10 beers with the boys after work. I think the whole atmosphere of wine drinking lends itself to more relaxation.

It all depends.
In my case, if I'm already happy and relaxed, wine enhances that feeling. However, if I'm already upset, I get madder than a wet hen, after drinking.
At the moment, I'm drinking a nice chilled wine. I'm in a good mood, so things are okay. lol

tour de france riders used to drink alcohol on high mt stages so their bodies would be numbed and they wouldnt feel the pain
