Yes, they can give your dog flea tape worm and other nasties. Some dogs can suffer from flea dermatitis, which is basically a allergic reaction to the bites. Keep up flea treatments with Advantage or Frontline and remember the fleas like all types of blood even yours! Yummy!

They can. If your dog is overly infested, it can become anemic and needs to see a vet imediately. Fleas can also transmit parasites such as tape worms. This will obviously make your dog sick. I suggest flea treating your dog to aviod these problems. Frontline, Advantix, Revolution, and Sentinal are all good products you can get from your local vet. Flea shampoos and sprays are also an option but most OTC (over the counter) stuff is a Ripp off. Get something from your vet. If your dog is inside you may only need to treat through the warm months cutting down on costs.

They certainly can. Some fleas carry diseases specific to areas.

In great number, they can actually drain the dog of blood and make him aenemic.

Use Frontline, Advantix, or a similar good quality flea and tick repellent once a month on the back of the dog's neck to prevent fleas and ticks.

YES! puppies can get anaemia if they have lots of fleas and fleas can carry tapeworm.

My last dog came out in hives from even one flea bite - not sick but very uncomfortable for the poor thing.

well a couple a fleas is normal of course. but its best to not have any. fleas can make adog truely sick, even kill a dog. but what they really do is put the dog through a lot of pain, and make there skin very sensitive. the way u can tell ur dog has to many fleas is when u see its hair is falling out and when u see dead skin (white flakes) on its coat.

Yes, they can. Fleas spread illnesses and if allowed to infest fleas will cause anemia and eventually lead to death.
