vet thinks it is acid reflux since it occurs at the same time and his body can't digest the food properly but thank you all put the question to a vote to many good answers LOL

He is a very old kitty. I daresay asthma could be part of the problem.

Ask your vet to run some senior kitty tests on him. In fact, an X-ray might be in order too.

Good luck,

The first thing that came to mind is the whole menu food thing - I'm assuming you have not been feeding canned food that might have been on the contaminated list - unfortunately it's still out there. A friend of mine lost one of her cats and nearly lost it's sister just a couple of weeks ago to canned food! I'm sure your vet will run a blood test on your old fellow and will be able to give you much more information than we will and that is the good thing - without seeing or being able to have more information about him, it's difficult to be able to diagnose something like this.

Yes, his age is a problem, the fact that there is a change of diet is also a possible factor but without more info there is actually little more than any of us can do than guess unfortunately. If you trust your vet and he's done well by you in the past then give him your trust now and let him take care of your old fellow. Remember it could be something simple and easily fixed! I feel that you are worried because of his age and I understand that. I had an old girl who lived to the ripe old age of 19 and have heard of others that have lived longer, so your fellow could have more years to go easily!!

Unfortunately if that's not the case, I know you're strong enough to deal with it and remember the lifetime of love you've given him.

We'll pray for you and him both - keep us posted and let us know how it turns out please? My prayers are with you!

There could be lots of causes for this; he could have eaten something that is bad for him or is blocking his intestines in some way. You should also be mentally prepared for the notion that he could have something wrong that cannot reasonably be fixed/cured without putting him through a lot of pain, especially given his age, and that he may have to be put to sleep. I'm not trying to scare you or anything like that; I have a 16-year-old cat myself, so I know a bit of what you're dealing with. I had to have a 10-year-old Siamese put to sleep just a little over a year ago due to cancer; he'd started throwing up and had lost a LOT of weight, and it turned out the tumor was partially blocking his esophagus, so of course your situation brings him to mind. I hope your situation is better; I just want you to prepare yourself for the idea that your feline friend's life may be coming to a close.

Best of luck to you both.

Hmm... I don't really know. Did he have any shots lately? Or change of food? I also might be hairballs, or something he ate (like a string or fake plant,) That he couldn't diagest. Ask the vet to give him something. And maybe for a while, if it is hairballs, try 'Science Diet Dry Food', insted of normal dry food. (Or mix 'em.)

Poor kitty. =[

Maybe it has to do with his food.
