I use a Browning 7mm Remington Mag out in Colorado on elk hunts. It has a stainless steel barrel and a fiberglass stock. I get really upset when a branch or my binoculars hit the stock and make noise. I would imagine the glare off the barrel would alert wildlife of my presence as well. I want something to put on the barrel and stock that will reduce glare and noise. Whatever the product is, it needs to be lightweight, will not build up moisture between itself and the gun, and can be removed easily. Anyone know of a product that fits my description?

Tall order. Why don't you just have your .7mm re-stocked? Or get a rifle sock and cut out the proper holes to fire, work the action n eject empties.

Good luck.

You could try wraping cloth type duct tape around the barrel to reduce the glare. It may work on the stock as well - you will need to try it to be sure. It will not damage the rifle and be easy to remove. A lot of synthetic stocks are hollow but can be filled with an arosol type space invader product available from most hardware stores to reduce noise when knocked.

In the good old days when I was in the service of my country and got to eliminate people designated as the enemy at the time I used burlap. Cut it in strips and wrap with it. You can use it in different ways and it blends in with the background and eliminates glare so your position is undetectible. I also notice that there is now duct tape in camo pattern available; but you have to sun fade it to reduce glare; and it leaves sticky goo to remove. Maybe you should experiment with both burlap and camo duct tape; maybe a combination of the two would be good; a mixture of the old and the new.

A soft-finish camo tape on the stock and flat black paint on the barrel will help.

To keep your binoculars out of the way, you can make an elastic harness that will hold them against your chest but will stretch far enough to let you get them to your eyes. Put your thumbs under them and your fingers over the bill of a cap and hold them together and they actually stay steady. One loop around the neck to hold them up when you aren't holding them by hand and two loops in an "X" across your back and around your arms to stretch will do it.

why would you want a ss barrel? that will keep you from getting close to any game animals..the noise from a stock is so minimal that it does not matter.i hunt with the same brand and bullet as you do. mine does not make enough noise to even notice. if you rae having problems it is with that barrel
