I've read that the Catholic Church believes that everyone that isn't baptized goes to Hell. This includes those that die as infants and aborted fetuses. Is this true?

Unborn babies do not go to hell. How can they if they haven't sinned? And you will not go to hell if you aren't baptized. That's like saying that baptism is the only salvation. It doesn't matter if you were baptized or not; if you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will go to Heaven. I know God wouldn't let the poor babies who have died or the fetuses to go to hell, because it is unfair and the Lord isn't like that!

This sort of issue was exactly why I converted to Judaism. Christians are constantly concerned about if x happens, who goes to hell? G-d isn't a bureaucrat, a bean-counter, or an officious judge hell bent on seeing us burn. He loves us, and of course wouldn't send an innocent soul to burn. I despise the concept of "original sin" What kind of G-d would punish us for something that we didn't personally do?

One of the reasons many Christians believe that babies who die go to heaven is based on 2 Samuel. After King David's child by Bathsheba died, David said, "But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." The bible calls David the apple of God's eye so we know he is in heaven, with his son.

Of course not. Baptism doesn't save you, belief in Jesus alone is what saves you. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV, says that we are saved by grace, for its a gift of God. We can't earn our way into Heaven. Babies are safe, and baptism is for the believer, how can a baby say they believe in Jesus? Infant baptism is not Biblical.

According to some nasty jerk who was at the funeral when my cousin died (and who said this to my aunt), yes.

I think its all crap, but I do think thats rude to say, especially when the mother is religious. My aunt didn't baptise my cousin because she thought it was best to let my cousin choose for herself when she got older.

Unbaptized babies used to go to 'Limbo' which was sort of like Nebraska. But the Pope changed that so now I think they might go to Idaho.
