I think I am seriously going to blow my cool here, folks. And I'd really rather not do that, so I'm going to abandon ship for a bit.
So, do you have any parting words for me?

This has nothing to do with this place or anyone here, but I feel like I'm going to take things out on people here. A very dear friend of mine, who is Pagan and gay, just wrote to me to tell me that his lover was beaten up by a bunch of idiots who were yelling bible verses at him as they did it.
I do NOT want to launch into a vitriolic diatribe here and take it out on people who were not involved, but right now I'm not feeling very charitable.

The break may be good, I found R&S to be less enjoyable during the summer. Don't fret, August is here and I think some will find their hands full with much needed English assignments. Come back soon, no one should feel they are not welcome.
**Edit**
That is a horrible thing that has happened to your friend. It is my belief that many who feel like they are going to heaven because they are 'righteous' and can quote verses to whomever whenever will actually find severe judgement brought upon them. I will pray for quick healing for your friend and I am glad he or she has your support. I hope that the people who did this are brought to justice ( whatever that may be at this point) and that somehow they are prevented from ever doing this to anyone else. Your anger is justified, but I hope it does not hold on to you for too long.

I remember being at a pro-choice rally where anti-abortionists were firebombing and chanting at the pharmacy. Think those people were motivated by saving the unborn? No, I think they were doing as they were brainwashed to do, not think. I encourage you to think about it as an idiocy thing, not as a religious-intolerance thing or a gay-hatred thing. Not excusing the idiots from getting their just rewards (I'd probably send Ma'at after them) but I'd also be targeting the brainwashers who helped instill the idea that somehow this was a religious act. Lady, I know that it's in your nature to blow your cool when you can't bite some dirt-bag's leg off who desperately deserves it. But channel it to more constructive pursuits. Form a posse! Send all that anger where it belongs! ;)

Maybe you are taking everything too seriously. You aren't going to change the way people feel about their religion, your religion or how dense humans can be! I've blown my cool a couple of times, but before I push the submit button I ask how am I going to look to the whole of the R&S community.
It drives me crazy when I watch good people leave and stupid people act like they did something special. Masterbation, is it a sin? Who f'ing cares and why do these people get away with talking about this crap and not get any violations?
Parting words... the Red Sea, hair... Oh sorry. I would tell you to worry about what you can fix, fix what you are worrying about and bless the rest on. Take an active part in projects that are concerns of Pagans. We need more people willing get their hands dirty to make changes for us. As I teach, NEVER NEVER NEVER cast a spell when you can do something physically. Vote, attend or host Pagan Pride events, or support others who need your number to increase the number of people that they need to throw at a problem! Pagans need other Pagans to support goals that they are trying to reach. I am very pro-Pagan Community and very tired of Pagans who think that all we have to do is play and not work.
I created the United Pagan Church to be a member based group to apply and promote changes that are needed to better our religions and in turn how the world sees us. How many members do you think we have??? 5 at most! We do have an Australian group, but that can be handled by one person. Why so few? Too many leaders and not enough followers.
So we will miss you and we hope that you will find another way to help the Pagan community.
Bright blessings.

Dear Raven,
It has been a trying day hasn’t it?
MM dear, and know that you are indeed loved.
Thanks for enduring as long as you did.
EDIT: Oh my God! I'm so sorry. How profoundly cowen of them. When I was in Wicca I met with this form of “Christian” charity myself for wearing a pentacle in the wrong place at the wrong time. My boyfriend and I had stitches from the encounter but he got the worst of it by far because these were southern gentlemen that didn't want to cut or hit a woman as much. It makes me want to fully enforce the three-fold rule personally. I’m so sick of these "people". I have to attempt a binding of the entire population that's corrupting the faith. What they do is not what was taught and by their behavior they serve the very evil they claim to stand against. What’s bound on earth is bound in heaven. It’s a tall order but it helps to have friends in "High" places still my faith needs maintenance….

Raven, YOu go ahead and take some time out then. Try do some healing meditations for your OWN spirit, which is obviously deeply wounded by this attack on your friend. I will send some healing energy your way too, just to help out a bit. When you're ready, I'll look forward to seeing your questions and answers again.
Brightest Blessings to you, my friend

Have a sweet siesta, my friend, I understand the feeling of wanting to implode after reading some insane answers.
I wish you health, plenty of sunshine, warm breezes, tall cool glasses of your favorite libation (or other!), soft hugs, gently kisses, a really good book, a sleepy swaying nap or two in a hammock, and the sound of your favorite music drifting over to you as you are lulled into slumber!
Bright Blessings, come back when the spirit moves you!

I am sorry to hear about your friend and his partner. I will be thinking of them and you in the coming days and sending positive thoughts to you all. I hope your friend, his partner and you can recover quickly from this horrible attack physically as well as emotionally.
Those that did this hideous act where not living the way that the book they quoted really teaches and will see the fruits of their labor returned to them in time.
Just always remember that the few do not speak for the many always!
Good luck to all of you. May you each find peace, love and happiness once again. Blessed be!

May the angel of mercy ride on your left shoulder
May the wind be always at your back
May the road ahead be sunny
May you come back feeling refreshed and realizing that many of the statements and arguments you find on Yahoo are simply gibberish, or people spouting their own prejudices, and not worth getting upset over.
Peace

Just take care, don't let the bigots of the world chase you away.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, there are a lot of ignorant people out there.
I fear that only education and time will correct the situation, but there are many people who revel in their ignorance.
Take care.

I was beat up at age 15 by "Christians" like this until I told them that I accepted Jesus so I understand completely. Your friend and soul mate are going to need your support and to do that you must remain strong. So take the time you need and then help them all you can. They will need it. Blessed Be.
