yes , you're there for your friend. Not much of a friend if you can't see past differing views.

This is the same question for a wedding? Would you not attend a wedding if your best friend was to be married? The House of God is a sanctuary and provides a forum for worship, but it says in the Bible that when two or more come together, that's where He will be. You could be in a supermarket and feel the same effect as in a church.

Of course I would be there for a friend in need. While I don't subscribe to the religion, being an atheist means that I don't have a dogma to tell me that I should feel guilty about going into a Christian church.

Hmm...No. However if it was my best freind who died I would attend the service only to show respect. I'm going to a wedding next month and I don't intend on going to the church part, I would feel uncomfortable.

I wouldn't go if it was held in a church who's views on the dead I do not support. I just think that is Hypocritical. But I would be sure that my friend had all the support I could give other then that.

My father was religious and when he passed away, I went to his service and funeral - I may not believe in God or church, but I also know that I'm not going to set ablaze and burn just from being in a church. I'm non-religious, not anti-religious.

I respect my beliefs and those beliefs of others. I've attended several funeral services and wakes in churches for friends of mine or for their parents, grandparents, some of which were very religious, some of which weren't so much.

I'm not so selfish to leave my best friend hanging in a time of need, especially just because I don't believe in God.

Sure I would. I went to my uncle's funeral when I was an agnostic and they weren't checking for church membership cards at the door. Besides which, Pastors always like to have unbelievers attend their funeral services because they can preach a little bit about having eternal security and how tomorrow isn't promised to any of us so we all need to trust in Jesus for our salvation today before our time runs out unexpectedly.

as a Jew I would still go to church. I cannot fathom how hard it would be to lose your mother. Support of my friend comes first. But then again, I'm not against going into churches, I've done it before...

Of course. Why wouldn't I? Just because I don't believe in her religion doesn't mean that I would not support my friend in any way I can. Since I don't believe, I'm really not going to be too worried about bolts of lightening coming from the sky. :)

Why, do you think you'll melt? By all means, go for your friend, she/he needs support and friendship in this time, and listen to the service, you might get saved. If you continue to reject Jesus, you will go to Hell when you die, end of discussion, do you really want this?
