In the city, it usually starts snowing in the beginning of December. Last winter we didn't get much snow; I think the first "big" snowstorm was in mid-February.

If you're trying to come here when there will be snow, I'd say January.

The earliest date I EVER remember it snowing here in New York (I live upstate near Albany)--was October 4th 1987 when we had a blizzard and power was killed for almost an entire WEEK... the lastest it has snowed was May 17, around 1968... (but that was up in the Adirondacks where I lived THEN)... last winter, it was still in the 50's in December but that was HIGHLY unusual....some years, it is bitter cold by November and covered in snow up here. and other times we get our first sign of snow in late October....no two winters are ever the same... some winters we have BARELY an inch or two of snow all winter and some winters we have 36 in ONE STORM....it does get VERY VERY cold up here though---I've seen temperatures in January and February more then 28 BELOW ZERO up here...(without the windchill factor)...

First snow is usually around Thanksgiving (late November). It hardly snowed at all last winter, though.

You may get some snow in Nov, Dec, even Oct. on some years, but snow doesn't usually "stick" till January.

Its hard to say. Recent years has seen a decline in snow, not that I'm complaining I hate the snow.

But I've seen snow flurries in late Novemeber some years, with one significant storm.

Other years from Decemeber on it keeps coming,

Some years has January with the first snow. Global warming has screwed up the weather pattern.
