I had been between 98 and 102 pounds all my life. Always ate healthy and still do. Never even ate alot but, in my 40s, my weight soared virtually overnight. I'm sure it is my thyroid since it runs in my family. Unfortunately, tests don't always show it and my doctor won't treat it without an abnormal test result...even though he admits I have all the classic symptoms

I eat mostly veggies and fruits and have meat maybe two or three times a week (always very lean). I don't eat anything fried, no sweets, rarely have fast food and all grains are whole grains. I never exceed 1200 calories a day (and often only have between 600 and 800 calories). I also work out with a personal trainer. And, I have not lost one pound in all these years! I hate it!

As an R.N., I am totally aware that I am starving myself but I am desperate. I know that so few calories is not healthy but the public pressure to be slim weighs on me as it does most females. I also hate that people automatically assume that, if you are overweight, you are sloppy, lazy, don't exercise, eat too much and don't care about yourself. None of that applies to me but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to public perception. Just read the responses to questions here related to being overweight...posters actually get nasty to the asker telling them they are lazy, sloppy and have no self-pride. How shallow of them to jump to such cruel conclusions just because they are lucky enough to be thin. May they someday be cursed with a weight issue.....
