I am going to the doctors on Wednesday to get some help for the problems I have been having (cutting, pill popping, feeling horrible all the time)

What can I expect at that visit and what should I say?

What can I expect afterwards and in the long-term?

At the first visit you will be asked a lot of basic questions that every new person is asked. Try to be as honest as possible. The more honest you are the better this doctor will be able to help you. In the long term you will gradually feel like you can trust this person and be able to discuss your issues with them. If this person is only doing an intake appointment with you, you will meet someone else that will be your therapist. Good Luck On Your Journey

One thing to expect is a lot of questions like what you use to cut, where you cut, why do you think you cut, possibly how you cut, why are you pill popping, describing the horrible feelings you mentioned. I would give this person the whole-honest truth so they can refer you to the best people best suited to help you. One thing that would be of big help long term, is therapy, particually cogantive behavior thearpy. best thing short term may be an anti-depressant like the drug wellbutrin xl.

You should just tell the doctor exactly what you have been experiencing...after all, if you don't tell him EVERYTHING how can he help you? And as far as the long term...that's all in what you make it. If you decide to follow the course of treatment that he prescribes then you should feel great...finally, which is a great feeling! But if you decide not to take his advice then you can expect to not see any changes. Good Luck!

you are probably have some depression, with some repressed anger/control issues.
Dont freak-- all very normal and could even be hormonal or something wrong with your thyroid. They will probably send you to the lab to draw blood to screen for any underlying health issues, as I mentioned above. You will probably chat with someone on some of your own thoughts and feelings of your world going on right now. they may prescribe medication- which you should ask about side affects. All of which- the human mind and body can conquer and outgrow if willing.

glad to hear you're getting some help with this. relax. it's no big deal. that doc is there to help you, not judge you. remember that. tell the truth and don't hide things from your doc. you can expect him/her to ask some q's about you, your life, how you're feeling. don't take it as digging. just remember, this is how you start to feel better. don't expect to feel totally different right away. it took a while to feel this way, it'll take a while to change. don't give up on yourself. if you do what you know is right, and listen to your doc,the long term will take care of itself.
good luck and remember, relax. it's all good

you will learn to answer your own questions by being honest with yourself tell the absolute truth don't be embarrassed or lie you are paying the doctor a substantial amount of money don't be an idiot and be too proud to tell him the absolute truth cause he will help you as long as your checks are good so he will not be losing anything, whether you tell him the truth or not you will be the only one losing and remember your health is at stake!!!!!!!!!!
