Go easy guys! This is just a kid here! No, don't breed your pet. It's a health risk, it's going to cost a small fortune in vet bills & you won't be able to get any money for the pups anyway, even if they are cute. Your dog will live longer & be healthier if she is spayed.

Heat is a pain for everyone involved. You should not breed a mixed breed. I'm not a snobby purebred dog person, believe me.

<-- Do you see that cute little face right there? That's my dog, Missy. She's adorable. She has that "puppy dog face" and gets compliments all the time in the park. She's fixed because her puppies, while precious, would be worthless. They better no breeds and make overpopulation worse. She's a mutt. She's a great pet for me and I couldn't ask for anything more from a dog, but no responsible breeder would breed their dog with her because she's a mutt, no matter how well they know her great temperament. She is a MUTT.

Young motherhood is also troublesome for dogs. If they aren't physically and emotionally ready to be parents, they may reject or accidentally kill the puppies.

All dogs are cute. That's no reason to breed. She should be a show champion before you even think about it.

In case you couldn't tell, I love my dog as much as I'd love a show-quality specimen of a breed that I were breeding and helping out with the puppies. I don't advocate not breeding mutts because I don't like them; I advocate spaying and neutering mutts because there are TOO MANY and people think that "knowing" what breed(s) are in the mix means they know what the dog is like. Weird things happen in breeding all the time.

Please - for the love of your dog - get her spayed and take a ton of pictures so that everyone can see how cute she is with no risks to her health.

You know when I was at the shelter earlier today I saw lots of cute dogs. Some very cute. As I was dropping off some supplies for a shelter that does kill animals (not the one I volunteer for) come this time next week most of those cute little faces will no longer exsist. They will be dead. I left in tears as I always do. At least I gave them a few bags of food so as they won;t die hungry.

If you breed your dog at any age for each pup you breed 1 in a shelter will die. That's not really fair is it?

Spay your very cute dog and save a life too. Maybe even her's because toy dogs are hard to breed. Especially when you don;t know what you are doing.

Please think about what I said. I'm not making it up. Every word is true. Take a trip to your local kill shelter once a week for a month. Ask each time how many have died that week. At the end of the month add up all the deaths. If you have a heart, which I'm sure you do you won;t ever think about breeding that little one again.

She may be cute but since you are asking this question you obviously dont' know anything about breeding. In case you don't know, we euthanize millions of healthy dogs every year just becasue they don't have homes. For every puppy you produce, you have for sure just sentenced a homeless dog to death. Now that you do know that (if you didn't already) the fact of the matter is if you still choose to breed you can pride yourself on bveing a very selfish and cold person. Hopefully you will make the right choice and prove you are not a horriblly selfish person.

PS - I strongly suggest you go volunteer at your local shelter for a few weeks so you really understand how many dogs are suffering becasue people think their dogs are so "cute" and want to breed them regardless of the consequnces.

Oh yippeee.... Another litter of mixed breed dogs, born from a mother that is far too young to breed.. Hoooooray.. Bet the vet will be happy to get that c-section money.. Or will you let her die cause you can't afford the c-section???

You will need
Money - for the c-section
Milk replacer and baby bottles - cause mom won't likely feed them
Home remedies for worming, and vaccinations. diarrhea and vomiting.
And a big cardboard box to tote them all to the Humane Society when you find that you can't find homes for them all..

Actually what you should do, is call the Humane Society NOW and let them know that you'll be bringing in a box of small breed mutts.. They have an easier time finding homes for those small dogs.. They can start a waiting list of people looking for mutts..

Here are some links you need to check out BEFORE you breed.

A dog needs to be at least 2 years old before breeding.
And why in the heck would you breed a mixed breed? Are you not aware that 4 million dogs are put to sleep each year in this country alone??
Don't breed your dog. You obviously have no clue what you are doing. And you don't breed a dog because it is CUTE!

Why on earth would you want to breed your pet? Are you prepared to loose her if there are complications. Do have have the money to pay for the vet bills if something happens, we are talking thousands here. Can you get up to 8 weeks of work or school to stay at home and hand raise the pup's if something happens to mum, or she wont accept them?

Being cute is NOT an excuse to breed any dog!

Answering your question though, she may come into season any time now. But if you are hell bent on breeding her for no reason, DO NOT breed her on her first season, she is still a pup herself.

you have no business breeding her. especially if you want to breed her on your first heat. glad you think she's cute, hope you remember how cute she was when she's dead from pyometria or other pregnancy complications. you have a mixed breed dog, don't you think there are enough of them that people are breeding? you mention nothing of her linage, because she's mixed and you don't know. you mention nothing of the genetic testing that she could pass onto other litters. do you know what to expect during the pregnancy, are you prepared to take in her for prenatal exams, have her x-rayed for how many pups she's having and to see if she can safely deliver them. are you prepared to spend hundreds of dollars for a c-section? are you prepared to bottle feed the pups if mom's not producing enough milk or has other medical conditions? exactly what are you adding to the world? more cute puppies? don't you think enough die in a shelter every year? i doubt you know any of this or you would not even think of breeding your dog on her first heat. she is still a baby. are you prepared to find homes for these dogs that have better owners than yourself who will take them to the vet and have them currant on vaccines and spay or neuter them? probably not. and you'll breed her anyway. so i'll see you in front of my local walmart selling these pups here soon i imagine. thanks for being a fool.

amen to every person here. DO NOT BREED YOUR DOG. regardless of how cute you think she is, you're not going to find 6 puppies "cute." And neither will the people you try to dump them on. And then you leave your mistake on the step of the local humane shelter in a box and they have to put down a whole lot of your stupid decisions because no one else wants them either. Why can't the world be rid of stupid people like yourself?

First off you should never breed a dog on its first heat. Some breeds are not fully developed by thier first heat and breeding them will cause developmental problems. I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU WAIT TIL HER SECOND HEAT!! Your dog will go into heat when she's ready around 6-12 months. It depends on many things from genetics to enviornment. If you've never bred dogs before I suggest you do some research. There is alot more to it than just putting a boy and gril together and boom you've got puppies. Make sure that there is a market in your area for the type of dog you will produce. Poor market = not selling pups = you with 6 dogs or your pups end up at the pound. Think twice about breeding your mix. There are soooo many cute mixes in shelters awaiting good homes. Best wishes.
