I agree. We have to have unity just to co-exist in our world, and hatred should be abolished. Oh, well, it sounded good to say it; just wish we could do it. I don't HATE anyone for their beliefs or questions. More like frustration that some keep on and on and won't let it go. Some just want to bait others to get them angry, don't they? We just have to really start ignoring the questions that irritate us!

For a lot of people, God and religion are a very significant force in their lives. They put their trust in God or gods or whatever, they try to live by their religion's rules, they turn to religion when they need guidance, assurance, or advice.
For those people, there aren't really 'far more better things' to discuss, especially when someone else is trying to claim that this huge part of their life is essentially meaningless.
As for why people try to disprove God's existence, I'm not really sure. They may feel that they're trying to help 'enlighten' religious people, or that disproving God's existence will put an end to the fighting between religions or because of religions.
Also, there are a lot of people, religious and not, who don't believe that we have any say in how our lives turn out, that everything is just pre-planned before they're even born.

Immaturity. Now is the accepted time to grow up. Getting too much away from Jesus' words and on to the commentary. Jesus' doctrine was simple, even a child could understand the important parts and He said it was a matter of doing it, like forgiveness, not judging, love, stuff everybody agrees with. They'd rather vain arguing, not knowing what they are talking about as that was definitely out. Teach with deep respect. If someone is not interested guess what, their not. The answer could go on indefinitely. It's just the way of the world.

Things dont happen as a result of how we live our lives. WE arent the center of the UNIVERSE...God is.
Things WILL happen, however, based on what we BELIEVE. God has given mankind pertinent information that He will hold every individual RESPONSIBLE for. That is what all of us will be judged by on that final day, and what will determine where we spend OUR eternity.
No one is being hateful, but actually they are being LOVING by pointing out these facts to you, so that you can BELIEVE before its too late.
God exists. A person NOT believing it doesnt change the facts ONE BIT...but what he believes WILL affect where He spends eternity.
Serious stuff here. Seeing as it IS that important, one would think that more people would stop one second and actually consider what God has to SAY!

The existence of God, the nature of God, trying to understand why we are here, what and who we are, and what we should do...
what larger and more fundamental questions can people ask themselves?
Do I think any of us can find the definitive absolute answers? Well, NO. It's a matter of faith, no matter how much "proof" or "disproof" someone shows us.

Actually if you think about it all of it would be the theists faults. If they weren't entirely irrational to claim the existance of something without evidence then there would not be discussions.
Atheists make no claims of things without proof, well, I mean other than the FSM :)

I ask myself the same question.
I thought I would find out more about what people think about their own religion and spirituality.
Occasionally there will be a question like that and I find that interesting and educational.
But I hate the....why don't you believe in God....why do you believe in God cr*p. No one ever says "oh, let me change my mind".

No wonder I've never hated anybody. I have neither tried to prove or disprove the existence of god.

The idea of God is important.
Communists have no need for a God.
That is why I will never be an atheist.
