Because it doesn't lead to the truth, that's why. We know that stereotypes may or may not have a certain percentage of correct application to a portion of a group but when they are applied to an entire group there will always be a misapplication of that idea to any number of individuals and so it is a cognitive distortion that leads to incorrect conclusions.

The discrimination of other people is the only intelligent thing to do. To do otherwise makes you an easy target for criminals and puppet masters.

The line is drawn upon with what criteria you stereotype. Whether it is unfairly biased or not. Who is to judge that? I think most reasonable people could agree to the following:

A group of people with shaved heads with white power and swastika tattoos could reasonably be stereotyped as a racist and white supremacist.

A guy wearing blue colors and Four Tray or 43 SC tattooed on his belly could correctly be stereotyped as being associated with a crip gang in East LA.

A politician who spews socialist policies can be stereotyped as a socialist (cough, cough ahem Hilary (and most contemporary democrats)).

People who live in America who agree with the right to burn our flag, blame America for all of the worlds woes and generally adhere to an ideology of hate America can be stereotyped as enemies of this nation.
