I heard on the news on the radio this morning that they are actually in the rodent family. Someone did some dna testing and said that they are not K9 and have been bred to resemble canines. Has anyone else heard this?? I love my chihuahua dearly, rat or not!!!!

Rat = Rodent Family
Chihuahua= Canine Family
You can't turn a canine into a rodent by breeding. It is geneticly impossible to breed a rat and a dog. The sperm and egg wouldn't mix.

Who in their mind would think that a DOG is a rat if it barks and wags its tail then well its a dog chihuahua's resemble a lot a dog breeds like the toy fox terrier the manchester terrier and the rat terrier all these dogs including the chihuahua all come from the terrier blood line and believe it or not a pitbull terrier comes from the terrier bloodline so do you think that a pitbull is a rat

Ive had the two, and that they do no longer resemble one yet another in any respect. Rats have small around ears, long noses, and unusual hairless tails. Chis have huge, upright ears, short noses and customary tails. they are the two fantastically clever, in spite of the undeniable fact that. :o) the conventional Chihuahua can prepare a guy or woman to do its bidding in minutes. ***** Chetco - you do understand that maximum folk wont understand that the Watley assessment is a parody? somebody, someplace, will quickly be quote those "data" :o)

This was on that Urban Legends TV show. This couple apparently bought this exotic rare dog & when they took it to the vet it was some kind of rat. LMAO! Of course it's not true.

that sounds like total BS, no offense.
when that breed was being created, they select bred smaller and smaller dogs to create the little dog we know and (in my case as well) love. a dog is built differently than a rat, and one of the biggest differnences is their teeth. sure rats are obnivores, and even wolves are as well, but a dog's teeth are built for eating meat, and so is YOUR dog's teeth.
but i haven't heard of what you are speaking of and also.... i hope your rat comment isn't meant to be negative because rats are endearing little creatures as well as dogs
