In the army, Im an Infantryman wanting to switch jobs.

You can not re-up to become a door gunner because there is no such MOS. What you can re-up for is going to aviation school to become a helicopter mechanic. The MOS for that used to be 68B2 (A/C Engine Mech.). After you finish aviation school you get reassigned to an aviation outfit. THEN you can volunteer to fly as a gunner. The right side gun usually went to the crew chief and the left gun was rotated among the people in the company who were not needed to do any maintenance work that particular day. At least that's the way we worked it in Nam. Good hunting.

Talk to a recruiter however if the Army already trained you they won't let you switch until your term is up. Wait until your active duty is over and then resign up to be a door gunner.

there is no mos for door gunner, those positions sometimes are filled by the flight crew itself
