Our neighboors are VERY STRANGE PEOPLE. They ahve all kinds of animals (From racoons, dogs, chickens, ducks, cats, snakes, fish - you name it - they have it.) She rescues animals sourt of. She takes them in, and then either finds homes for them or keeps them until their old enough to go into the wild.
(Which would be a really nice thing to do, but she does not keep things clean around her house. The smell actually travels from her yard to ours in the summer. Its GROSS)
WELL She has this one cat who comes into our yard ALL THE TIME. We didnt mind him at first. But a few weeks ago i noticed him spraying on our garden!! (There goes all those vegies!). Well, I hung my bathing suit on our clothes line (Like we do all our other clotehs) to dry. I went to put it on. IT GOT SPRAYED ON!!

My mom soaked it and washed it in the was (with no other clothes in it of course). She put it to dry. It didnt work! I'm currently soaking it in "Pet urine remover" that u use for your carpet/apolstry.

If the pet urine remover doesnt work on my bathingsuit..

What will?

Its SO hard to find a bathing suit that fits right. This one is brand new - and i LOVE it. It fits perfectly. I dont think I could find another one like it even if I searched the world lol. I really dont want to have to get rid of it (But if i cant get this 'cat spray' out...its going in the garbage!!)

We've talekd to the neighbors about this and they are certian that their cat does not spray. (Though I watched him).

Is there anything that will prevent him from doing it? (The neibhros say that he is fixed. Any other way to keep him from doing it?)

Pet urine remover will work. It's an enzymatic cleaner that actually eats the stain. Try Nature's Miracle if you don't like the other brand. NM has cleaned up some of the most disgusting messes I've ever seen! Then wash it once or twice with a good detergent and hang it back out to dry. (in a HIGH place) Inform your neighbor that if she won't neuter her cat then she must keep it out of your yard because it's not your obligation to deal with cat spray all the time.

EDIT: I read your edit. Some neutered cats still spray, but it's rare. Spray him. With a garden hose. That should teach him to stay away from your clothing!

Oh geez, I am sorry that this thing happened with you. I really am. What I can suggest you to do is to take it to a professional laundry where they clean clothes to your preferences. They are kinda expensive, but the job is done w/o the fabric being torn or damaged. If cat urnine remover is not helping, I am afraid nothing else will. When you take it to a dry cleaner/laundry, they have special fluids that take these things off. Trust me, this will help you.

And yes, loving animals is NOT your problem. Kindly call up animal control or the police itself and take the matter taken care of. This lady is doing a good job, but in turn is keeping the poor animals in a dirty condition that can affect their healths.

Good luck!

Cats can only spray at knee level or lower, so I'm wondering how your bathing suit got sprayed on if it was hanging on a clothesline. Or was it draped close to the ground?

Try Woolite, soak it in that and then wash it with a regular wash cycle.

Your neighbor sounds like a rehabber (someone licensed to help wild animals and return them to the wild).

Sometimes pet urine remover isn't all that! Try vinegar. It removes the stink from alotta stuff. You'll have to soak it and it may take a while for the vinegar to go away.

You might just throw it away and never do that again.

If you don't live in a rural route, you might check the ordinance and see if your friend has a license. If not, report her. Believe me, you'll be doing the animals a favor.

Cats spray to mark their territory.
you can find things that will discourage him from coming over and spraying.
talk to you neighbor to let her know your concerns and that he has sprayed your personal clothing items.

and the veggies will be fine, just wash them thoroughly before you prep them. What do you think happens on farms where people usually get their veggies from?
wild animals spray your food all the time..... they just get cleaned up before you see'em in the market....

tell her if he keeps coming over and spraying your items, you will have to charge her for the damages.
suggest she keep him in a cat cage, the big ones that allow for the cat to move around, with scratching posts, etc.

*soak your suit in baking soda/water to remove the odor.
it should help.

also tell your neighbor this is ruining your relationship, and she needs to do something about the cat. suggest having him neutered?

I know this sounds strange but try soaking it in baking soda and water the baking soda may absorb the smell. Just a thought. Hope it works.

sounds to me like you need to call the humane society or spca in your area and have them check the neighbors to see if they are properly caring for all the animals. you should also call the dnr and see if they are a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center, if not they should not be rescuing any wildlife, and if they are ask the dnr to come out and inspect things to see if they are being done properly. too much human contact with wildlife, then being released is just a death sentence for those animals.

If this doesn't work (and I suspect it will) you could try white vinegar or green soap.
I hope you will be wearing your bathingsuit with pleasure this summer ;)

Sorry girl, but cat pee is PERMANENT. You're going to have to throw it out. It will stink forever. And you do not want to smell like that or catch whatever funk is in it's urine, EEEEWWW.
