Looks like I've picked a good bunch (generally).

Some of you have been giving me your parts of the 'big answer', but most of you are giving me time off (by time off, I mean ummm.. Imagine me in a police uniform, outside a nightclub. I think tonight's a good night.)

Hmmm.... on the subject of police uniforms and good nights...

I should stop right there, before I get too steamy.

I'm sorry I'm not helping in your search for an answer, but rather than "hate" religions, I just feel sorry for the people smothered in one of them.

I CAN say though that Scientology, while trying to establish itself as a religion, is merely L. Ron Hubbard's on-going experiment to prove a lot of money can be made by starting your own religion. Which is what he did. He's dead now, but the organizing foundation that runs that "church" now, is slowly eliminating all information pertaining to Hubbard and his "checkered" past.

Fundamentalism of any form. You know, the kind of religion that wants to deny all scientific knowledge, equal treatment of women, or our religious freedom in government?

Radical Islam seems to be the most dangerous religion of this century. They have large groups organizing for Shariah law, which calls for execution for religious converts, homosexuals, and adulterers. How can anyone support that today? Christians are not about to chop off my head for disliking their religion...whereas some Islamic groups would be happy to do so.

I don't think religion in general is going to help us come together to make the world a better place.

I think that these way-too-strongly held traditions may tear at the fabric of society.

But hate?

I think that's a very baiting question.

I find some beliefs and behaviors disgusting, but these things seem to distribute themselves fairly evenly among religions. How can you hate a religion when religions are so diverse and not internally consistent?

There are so many to choose from. All dreadful.

And I cannot see how someone can claim you should not hate religions. People hate the Nazi ideology that led to the Shoah. So it is clearly fine to hate bad ideas, and religion is full of very, very bad ideas.

I detest all organized religion. It is nothing more than man made laws and beliefs, telling you how to act and worship. Hey, how a bout a personal relationship with God?

I do not hate any religion. I dislike their corrupt religious leaders that lead many into wars in the name of their God.
