You put your hand over your mouth to cover the blast. a significant amount of sputum is caught in your hand. A tissue in the pocket of your work pants would appear to be the best option but it's difficult to reach without losing control of the vehicle, or spoiling your work pants... What do you do?

hold wheel with left knee while opening center console with non-compromised hand. find tissue, wipe clean, and save snot-covered tissue as a "bomb" to throw at the next vehicle who nearly sideswipes you.

if no napkin is handy, then bon appetit.

I reach in my pocket, or even in the glove box, for the tissue, without fear of "losing control." Why? Because it is "rush hour." That means the traffic has come to a complete stand still, and it is like I am in a parking lot.
