Let's first describe how TRUE free will works...

Remember the game show Let's Make a Deal?

You NEVER KNOW what's behind the doors. There might be a new car, or there might be 200 cans of cat food. Monte Hall always gives you the option... keep what you have, or trade for one of the doors. You're not coerced. The choice is entirely your own.

Now here is the Christian god's "free will"...

God TELLS YOU that behind door #1 is a great prize (heaven), and behind door number #2 is eternal torment (hell.) He SUGGESTS you choose door number one, but you are given the option to choose door number 2 if you prefer burning. You can opt to not choose either door, but only temporarily, because before you leave the studio you'll be forced to choose door #2 anyway.

Now, what have we learned? We've learned that god's free will isn't actually free will at all, it's COERCION because the ONLY options you're given are eternal pleasure, or eternal pain.

You're never allowed to not play.

If you don't want to play don't dress up and go to the show.
God let's you not play at all.
We all have the right to go to hell in our own fashion.
Torment is not eternal read your bible and stop listening to fools. Death is eternal.
Yes God makes covenants or deals with His Creation because man will not just believe and follow.
If you don't accept God's well intentioned and righteous offer then you choose not to receive His blessings and why should you.
You are just making it harder than it is. Surrender. If there was a good looking woman as the prize you would jump all over that huh? Just ask a Muslim.

You are so right and SO eloquently and clearly presented that even the Christians get it. How clever of you ,that is why that one guy was so pissssssed off. Oh well, it's their religion, they think they have the free will to choose it, but they really have no choice in THEIR OWN MINDS because, as you say, who would choose eternal damnation if they thought that they only had that choice or heaven? Their so-called choice is NO choice! The just don't see it. You really said this well, if only they could get out from under the lash of this tyrannical religion and live a happy and free life.

Ah well, for many, tis not to be.

Well done! Attttttt!

Bright Blessings,

The problem with your question is that it is based on a false teaching by most of Christendom of eternal torment of the wicked. That is simply not biblical. The true basis of free will is that because of original sin, we are all under a death sentence. That is what we have now. What is behind door # 1 is eternal life if we choose to take Monty up on the deal.

Oh my how you got things twisted. In the beginning the "players" did not know about good and evil. They had no concept of either They were only told not to choose a forbidden door. But they ,with their "free will "chose it. The "freedom" came from their being able to make the choice.

I've made the same argument. People simply parrot "but you can choose eternal torture" as though any SANE person would actually do that.

P.S. Free will disappears like smoke in the wind when one considers that God is omniscient. God knows what you will do. God's knowledge is perfect. You will NEVER do anything other than what God already knows you'll do. THEREFORE no matter how long and hard you agonize over "decisions", God knew you'd do it in the end, and you were never really going to do anything other than what you ended up doing.

Chirp chirp, replied the Christian cricket....

You are going to be told that burning in hell is a valid choice, as is refusing to play the game. As if anyone would rightly choose either of these horrible choices....

Psalm 152 reads "all my days are written in your book." This effectively negates the idea of Free Will.

"Free will" doesn't actually exist in Christian dogma. It's just an illusion to get the masses to behave themselves. How can Christians believe that they have free will? Hasn't god pre-ordained EXACTLY what is going to happen. If god says that the future will occur in only one way...and god is never wrong...then future can only occur in one way. This means that you don't actually have a choice because the course of the future has already been set!

Dude. The lack of options via a la carte, does not negate FREE WILL. GOD created you from dust...I think he can make the rules.

GOD Says:
Choose Ye this Day (EveryDay is "this Day") Whom Ye shall Serve.

GOD or satan

Choose!
That is FreeWill.
And that is Right, you cannot Opt Out of Choosing.
You are Stuck in this Life--so Choose!
