I like to look at the tattoo questions. I like to see other's ideas and opinions. But, I am irritated with the amount of questions that strangers can not answer, such as "what can I get that is personalized to me?" or "how much will this cost?" or "does this placement hurt?" Personilization is just that, personal. Sure people can give you opinions, but only you can pick the right tattoo for you. As for cost, only your artist can tell you the exact price. And then, my favorite, pain. Everyone's pain tollerance is different. No one can tell you exactly how much a tattoo will hurt. It hurts a lot for some people and others can even find it pleasurable or say it tickles. I need to ignore these questions. Even in my personal life, when people ask me these questions, I say ask your artist!! Please, ask your artist!! Ok, I'm done venting. Anyone else sick of these questions? There are so many of them.

Etrigone has given me an idea. I'm going to put answers to those 3 questions on a word document and save it. When ever I see those questions, I will just copy those answers and paste. Easy 2 pts!!!

Thank You!!
If I had a dollar for every time
I answered one of those....
I'd be retired and rich!!
Irritated, doesn't come close
to how I am beginning to feel,
every time I see one of them...
But I do feel like the questions
are being ask by younger kids
that just don't have the answers
they need, to make a sound decision.
If we, as informed adults, can help
them get on the right road..then I
guess we have to keep answering
the same old stuff, over and over.

I agree. Every time someone asks me about my tattoos, I can't think of what to say. I mean, I can recommend an artist, and I can tell them that I drew my own tats, but mine didn't hurt, and I know a lot of people who thought tattoos were painful. I agree, all you can do is tell them to ask the artist. Although, when talking to a tattoo virgin, sometimes it's fun messing with them, especially if they're particularly stupid. Mean, I know, but come on! Most of these questions can be answered by a simple Google search.

Yep, it's popularity is making it the centre of attention. If anyone now writes anything to do with fantasy or the supernatural it's suddenly too like Twilight, in some vampire-crazed teen cases it's true, but normally it isn't. I wonder when this is going to end! It's been years since the books have been out, Twilight, vampires, get over it!

I agree. It's one thing to explain what tattoo your gettng and ask about placement etc but to keep asking these other questions is getting old. I especially hate the "will it hurt" question. I tried to answer nice and explained about areas that hurt more than others, how fill or shading hurts more than a line, but it is getting old. So. I think from now on, my standard answer is just gonna be "YES, they jam needles into your skin at high speed, what did you expect?". LOL

Well, yeah, but...
Even if we educate 100% of the people who come in asking these questions today, and none of them ever ask any of the questions any of them asked... tomorrow there would be a whole new crop of people asking the same questions.
There is a term for this kind of task - 'Sisyphean'. Trust me, on this one, the only winning move is not to play. You still have me agreeing completely, I just refuse to push the rock up the hill for these people anymore. :)
Addendum: I admit, I actually do sometimes answer these kinds of questions, but pretty much only when it's truly a unique angle on the question (e.g. "I'm a redhead & we tend to have lower pain tolerances, so...").

As for your Word document...I did a similar thing, only with an actual web link. I just paste the link. Check on my profile and you'll see it (it was for Languages section, not tattoos).
Now I have plenty of useless "Yahoo Points"...so whenever people ask those questions, they just get a piece of my mind...and they can flag me all they want if they don't like it.

They don't bother me, look at it this way, Free points! I think i've answered one of these "pain" questions, and then just copy & paste it onto other questions. Or, I give them a link to a helpful site (bmezine.com, quite helpful kids!). But, It does get annoying sometimes, I kind of feel bad for the people who want real answers but their questions get ignored because you get a bunch of different questions "My mommy said no!" "How to pierce yourself" "Does this hurt?" type questions.
