How bad is a town ordinance?

A job offered me a position and now they are doing a backround check. The application said have I been convicted of anything othe than a traffic violation......I put no. I was told that town ordinance in which i paid a fine does not go on my record. Now I am wondering?????

Was kind of drunk in public...but not drinking at the time. Not violent. Just loud.

You lied on your application. Your application can be rejected for that. Had you been honest, it is likely the employer would have been willing to overlook the minor offense.

Drunk in public... You Rock! Don't worry about it. It probably won't even come up and even if it does you can play it off like,"Oh, that? I was drunk in the middle of the street. I thought it counted as a traffic violation, hahaha!!" Employers want to hire you and they're not likely to throw away a good candidate based on something dumb like that. For that matter, I'd hire you based on that alone! I don't trust people who don't drink.

How was the charge worded? If it didn't fall into the category of a traffic violation,and it doesn't sound as if it would, then you probably should have listed it on the app.

If it was far enough back you could always claim it never even came to mind because it was such a minor incident.

Depends on what you applied for and what kind /size of town it was. Is the place you applied likely to check with that particular town to find out about it and is the town likely to subscribe to a national criminal database where they would send the info to? If no then you have really nothing to worry about unless you run for president in 30 years.
