Gods purpose was to create intelligent life with free will scattered all over the universe. During or before the creation of planet earth and human life, one of the angels of God desires total independence from God's rule. He goes as far as to question God's rule and that life could be better without God dictating right from wrong. He also states that he could turn all life away from God. He is succesful in turning away the first human pair and many of the angels. God does not destroy this angel because of the questions and doubts that have been presented by this rebel angel.
God lets time speak for itself. God also makes a plan to restore paradise which according to the bible the time is very close.
So the bible explains to us why there is suffering.
Do you think there is good reason to belief the story above and belief in the bible God?

nat, But jesus came to earth to teach us how to live and we killed him. He was only 32 and we slaughtered him. Then we went after all the 1st century christians. They where all wiped out from earth. Then the Catholics blended pagan beliefs to christianity to make more attractive to us or to scare us of going to a burning hell.

But the Bible is still here after thousands of years. and the message has not changed. It is there for everyone to read.
No human religion can ever take away the original message of God from us. We just have to read the bible directly and with prayer God will lead you to find the true worshipers of God Jehovah.

if your saying satan is just an instrument in providing us with choice, I'd say you're right...no real choice if we don't have the alternate of rejecting God.
As for suffering...you're right there as well...God's not the author of suffering....again....man and his choices.....wow...imagine that..there was a reason God didn't want us making that choice...because of the suffering it brings.

I say that describes the process fairly effectively, in a manner that almost explains the questions about why god allowed Satan to exist. But I think that that is an insufficient reason for creating so much pain, especially if that pain is not applied as a measure to force a person to change to a better path. Rather, God has made the pleasurable path in life a sin, and only through trials that cause suffering can we be deemed worthy. No loving or benevolent creator would do such a thing to his creations, no one but a sadist would.

No. That makes no sense to me at all. The following biblical explanation does, however. The key lies in correct interpreatation of the Garden of Eden story. Question: if god is omnipotent and omniscient, why wasn't he there at the tree to set Eve straight before she took the apple? Answer: God knew very well that Eve would take the apple, and that is, in fact what God wanted. God wanted Adam and Eve to have wisdom and knowledge of good evil, even if that gift came at the price of some measure of suffering. Here's the proposition: wisdom and knowledge at the price of mixed suffering and joy; or enternal un-ending homogeneous undiferrentiated comfort? You could argue that the second joice is enternal un-ending homogenous happiness, not just comfort. But I don't think that's the case. Can joy exist even exist without suffering? I think not. All the really meaningful pleasure in my life comes from striving and succeeding. But even putting that aside, I'd choose knowledge and wisdom over undifferentiated joy, without hesitation. Does that put heaven in peculiar light as well? Certainly. Given a choice between heaven and living this life over again, I'd choose the latter. I love the life I have, and heaven sounds dull, frankly. I really can't think of anything more enjoyable, more challenging, more interesting than living the life we do have as well as I can.

Look at the horror that life is capable of. I'm serious. I don't want to name examples, but if I did, you would be deeply disturbed for the rest of the day at least...
You're trying to tell me that this kind of injustice and pain and torture and torment are a product of God throwing up his hands and saying, "Well, f uck it then, I'm not gonna give you anything anymore!"
I don't think so. There is no god.
-------
And for my rebuttal to your response:
The people that have endured the torture and horrors and pain I was mentioning before did not kill Jesus. You're saying the same thing. God got pissy and is at this moment still pouting while little children are raped and murdered. I am sorry but you will never, ever, ever convince me that what your saying is true, much less carries any validiy whatsoever at all. Watch a beheading video. Then tell me you agree with this passage and that for god to let this happen is a just punishment (for something that particular individual didn't even DO.) The idea to me is about as crazy as it gets.

right now i`m in some kind of weird and eccentrical spiritual crisis cos i was raised in a christian home, though my parents aren`t religious at all,and my father seems to be atheist at times
i `can`t say that God does exist just as anyone can`t do it,but i also can`t say that He does exist but i think that if he does exist, then there are all kind of supernatural entities less powerfull than him but more powerfull than humans, by this i mean satan`s existence
but i don`t understand why God ,if he exists,he punishes mankind in a very harsh way
And why he lets all kind of bad things happen and why he lets the wicked people have the power and be wealthy while the naive and poor are all ****** up and suffering

1) Nowhere in Genesis does it say that the serpent is the devil. It's just the most clever of gods creatures.
2) The story of Lucifer being expelled from heaven is not in the bible. It comes from books writen later, like "Paradise Lost". The reason supposedly was that god ordered Lucifer to bow down to humans and he wouldn't. He didn't think it was fair that people were higher in gods eyes than angels.
So, in conclusion, I disagree.

Yes, looking at human nature at work in this world is a clear indication that mankind is not where it should be. With all of our knowledge in physical and mental health, all the teachings of centuries of philosphers, all the laws to restrain evil people, all the desires to be good and do good for others..... the world is still full of evil, hurt and selfishness.
There has been no evolution in mankind's treatment of others in the time of recorded history. There is still no one who is perfect on this earth, even though many of us desire it. We are just like the Bible says.
Rom 3:10-17
0 As it is written:
"There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." 13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips." 14 "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." 15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know."
(from New International Version)
Suffering still abounds.

You are only trying to rationalize a belief that in reality does not make any sense.
IS A GOD THAT PITIFUL TO PUNISH PEOPLE WITH ETERNAL TORMENT,TORTURE IN HELL FOR FINITE SINS?
Why did he put the tree in the garden, if he did not want Adam and eve to eat from it? why did he allow Satan to tempt them, and most of all
DON'T YOU THINK THAT PUNISHING WITH SO MUCH SUFFERING IS A LITTLE TO HARSH FOR JUST HAVING EATEN A FRUIT? WOULD YOU PUNISH YOUR KIDS WITH FIRE IF THEY DID NOT OBEY YOU?
