I straighten my hair everyday with a ceramic straighten. Is that worse than scrunching my hair with hair spray and gel everyday?

Well is your ceramic straightener 100 percent ceramic, if so I would say your good. My guess that your straightener is not actually 100 percent, as so few are (not even CHI). I would say for you to straighten your hair no more than 3x a week and let it be natural for the rest of the week.

No, heat damages your hair not more then alcohol in gel. But it is more correct to use ceramic straightener with some products for straightening. they'll make your styling more long lasting and more shiny, there are special creams for styling and care at the same time (Sunsilk, L'oreal). By the way, what's bad with curly hair? you can try to control the frizz with the help of a gool conditioner and cream for hair... But it's up to you. I have straight hair and used curl them for some years... I guess everybody wants something what they don't have. you can also try straightening your hair only near the roots. 1) they are fragile near the ends 2) this style looks ok on most of people, I used to curl mine but left the roots straight.
