Can that even happen? I'm planning on quitting my job, but my employers and manager don't like me because I have kept asking about my late paychecks until I get them. They don't like me, I don't like them. But I want to quit rather than get fired, because I don't want to have to write that I was fired on why I left my last job whenever I apply for another job.

Then quit. They are not obligated to let you work out your notice. You still are resigning.

They Can't, All they can do is cut your 2 week notice short. If you feel they are considering firing you then ask them for a letter of recommendation. Try doing that before you put in your notice. If they really don't like you they will write you a KICK A$$ letter of reccomendation. If they give it two you then you don't have to worry about it. If they wont then whats the use in working your 2 week notice out. Tell them to notice in the next 2 weeks your A$$ aint coming in. Always try to get a letter of recommendation and know your rehire elgibility.

Good Luck!!

Do you work for a psychotic dry cleaner? That's what happened to me. I quit, then they fired me. On any new applications, I simply put that I had quit. I had given my two weeks notice, so I went with that. It didn't matter in the long run. I was just careful in interviews to say good things about all my employers, even the ones that fired me after I quit.

You can file for unemployment by being fired. That would get them even more P O'd at you. They would have to prove that you were not qualified or you were a real screw up to keep you from getting benefits. Then you can take some time to find a job you like and not just take the first job you found.

If they fire you you can collect unemployment until you find a new job - if you quit it's your word - and they may say don't bother (with the two weeks) and pay you for that time.
They can not hold your checks, it is illegal as long as you don't have a uniform or key (they still can't hold your checks) but can take a cut out if you have things -

I would try to find another job before thinking about a way of terminating this one.
