there are a couple reasons for the itching.
First is the shave itself caused a wee bit of irritation. Always make sure to use a good shave cream or gel, rinse thoroughly after shaving and dry very thoroughly without rubbing a lot (pat dry).
Second is any stubble left behind from the shave or the new hair growth after a day or so will both create some itchiness. My suggestion is to shave once over the first day but don;t keep going over and over the area; one pass will get most of the hair. Then on the next two days repeat the one pass shaving. that should get you pretty cleanly shaved. After that shave as often as required to stay smooth (and avoid stubble that itches. That may be daily or a couple times a week depending on the rate of your hair growth and the thickness of your hairs.
A couple other things:
A dull razor blade or an electric razor can cause irritation; always use a fairly new blade in a twin or triple bladed razor.
If there is a bit of irritation don't shave for a day or two. Also apply an aloe vera based body lotion.
And never apply after shave.

Lotion! Try Vaseline Intensive Care. If you are a girl, try to avoid your "special bits" because that could lead to an infection. Just stick with the "outside" area. Also, try shaving only once every other day or so- too often makes it itch, not often enough makes it itch when it grows back in.

Ok, this is going to sound really nuts, but my bf was a topless dancer a few years ago and she swears that she and the rest of the girls she works with use the solid deodorant to help with the itching and irritation. She shaves her parts too and uses the Dove or Secret solid deodorant. I'm not sure how or if it truly works, but maybe it's worth a try!

Welcome to the world of shaven pubes!!! Just get a cream called "Bikini Zone"--it really works. Keep the area clean, as body sweat and oils are the "starters" for ingrown hairs. Hold off on shaving again for a week or so if you plan to keep the area smooth. Also, exfoliate 2 days prior to shaving--as mentioned by the other answerer.
Hope this helps. Best of luck to you and your pubes.

BABY POWDER! And next time you shave your pubes, exfoliate one or two days before and trim the hair before you shae. two days AFTER shaving it, exfoliate to get rid of all the dead skin, this will help reduce itching. If all else fails, WAX IT!
