If you think you aren't going to hurt him, you better think again. Breaking up always hurts one, if not both people involved. There really is no set way of doing it "nicely" because the person getting dumped is alway hurt.

I suggest that you just plainly say that it is over and if asked why, tell him honestly why. Don't draw it out or do it at the end of a date. Make it clear at the beginning of the next time you see him. If you wait "for the right time", which really doesn't exist since there is no "right time", it will only be worse. Make it short and get it over with. I also wouldn't do it in a public place unless you think he might get violent and you might need help leaving him.

You need to talk to him. Let him know that you don't feel right going on with the relationship if you don't care. Or if it's issues let him know the issues in a nice way. Don't do it in private. In those kind of situations people can get overly emotional. Go out for coffee or something. IT keeps both sides from yelling, crying or getting hurt. It makes it easier for both sides. It's not easy. Let him know that you doing this is hard (if that is true, if not then just tell him it's over).

Just tell him you want to break up with him. I know it's easier said than done, but it's no fun being in a relationship and being unhappy, it's even worse feeling like you're in love by yourself. Sit him down and tell him you want to break up and give him your reasons for wanting to do so, your happiness is all that matters. Do what makes YOU happy.
Good Luck!

Honesty is the best policy. I know that sounds simple but if you make up reasons or try to skirt the issue, it just causes ill will. What would you want him to say to you if the shoe was on the other foot?

I say it depends, if it is just the fact that you have grown apart from him and dont want to be his girlfriend anymore, just tell him that you really aren't into your relationship anymore and its not fair to him, but if he is a total jerk or you just dont care because you have found someone else, tell him the reason that you are leaving him because if it is that bad he should know what he does to drive girls away.

lol this should be easy for me being that i just did like 2 days ago lol. all i told him is that "i really don't see us going anywhere so i think we'll be better off as just friends" if you don't wanna be friends, then just say "i don't really see us working out at all and it'll be best if we just end it." make sure it's short and to the point, because it'll be that much harder if you write up a whole novel. lol good luck with that =]
-and try not to be to harsh on the boy lol

Simple. Tell him you are no longer interested in pursuing this relationship. Let him know that you still want to be friends and you still care for him, but it is simply not working out.

You will not avoid getting him hurt. So you have to be honest and kind. I don't want to date you anymore, tell him that he is nice and a good Person- but you don't think he is a match for you.
