My thoughts are: I am Jewish and I have my own idea about God and it's not yours. Why are you trying to tell me I'm wrong? What have I ever done to you? Jews come very close to knowing God; we've been doing it for over 5,000 years!

The reason Christianity prevails is because it is the only true religion that works. All other religions are based on work righteousness, leaving the question in one's mind, "did I do enough?" Christ did it all for all people, for all time. Christians never need worry about the question, "did I do enough?" because Christ did it for us.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the Christianity "prevails". None do as far as I'm concerned. They are all in error.
True, the story of Jesus is the greatest story ever told, but the Bible of Christianity isn't the only book that tells of Jesus.

Closer than Hinduism, where each individual's true "self" is in fact God and "ekam sat" (all is one)? I think not.
Perhaps EVERY human being walks this planet for us to see a glimpse of God's ultimate plan for human existence?
Had you thought of that I wonder?

I think Christianity prevails not because of its "rightness", but because it has such a propaganda machine efficiently spreading a campaign of fear. ("Join us OR ELSE!)
Those of us with other methods of understanding God have found the harmony of our voices drowned out in the cacophony raised by evangelicals.
But we are still here, and every so often, someone tired of the noise shuts their ears to it and composes their own song, and joins the harmony that may have been temporarily masked, but never truely silenced.

It prevails only in areas where the believers are sheltered from what really goes on in the rest of the world. Between growing faiths in Islam and Paganism...I don't think it prevails anywhere else.

Because it has been, especially in it's earliest forms, the most inclusive and supportive religion known to men. It accepts man or woman, king or pauper and gives hope to all that suffer.
Next time, let us answer the question though.

I don't mean to rain on your parade but your religion is fairly young in the scheme of things.
Some problems I predict in your future:
- the whole homosexuality thing.
- the whole 'waiting for Jesus' thing (2000 years, 4000 years, 8000 years?)
- your bible literalists and young earth creationists are putting a serious dent in the credibility of Christianity as a whole.
