Maybe if the employers dumped their cheap illegal alien labor pool and paid a living wage, there would be more people off of welfare.

Because the employers don't want to hire Americans. What American with a family can compete against an illegal living in an overcrowded apartment willing to work under the table for less then minimum wage?

American minimum wage = about 15k annually & all the taxes
Illegal = 10k annually & no taxes

Now the illegal can live with 10 other guys and send most of his money home to Mexico where his family lives comfortably while the American lives at home and still can't pay the utility bills, let alone maintain a car to get back and forth to work.

US workers are governed by employment laws, you can not by law pay a citizen below the minimum wage. Illegal immigrants have no such law protecting them and are basically subject to unfair wages because the employer can get away with it, who is going to tell?

Hiring illegal labor can pay off in many ways for employers including the skipping of many expensive taxes and fee's such as workers compensation and other employer insurances or fee's. Illegal immigrants also work overtime hours without the benefit of overtime pay much of the time. Why would the employer even WANT to hire a citizen?

The employer is making out like a bandit, the illegal is being exploited, wages are being lowered in that job sector for citizens, and jobs are disappearing for unskilled labor not to mention the taxpayers pay for their education and health care.

Because the minute an American citizen took a job their welfare would be cut off...including the medical. Illegals have the best of both worlds because of all of their fake id's. They are ghost's. Now I know that there are those that will immediately jump on the "They can't get welfare" bandwagon because it would be illegal for them to do so. DUH it is illegal for them to be here in the first place, it is illegal to use fake documents, it is illegal to hire them, it is illegal for them to drive without a license...you think one more law more or less is going to make a difference?
Illegals work off the books, get welfare, and free medical.
In short they get a raft of benefits not afforded to legal US citizens and now the politicos want to give them in-state tuition, something else not afforded to citizens.

The problem is that people like that, who are familiar with the process of turning the system to thier advantage, are unlikely put up with the kinds of wages and conditions that illegals accept, when they have recourse to laws that protect them from such exploitation. Illegals generally believe that they do not have those same protections, and that seeking them would result in deportation.

ken we have two problems we have lazy welfare American people that the bleeding hearts think it is okay for them not to work and we have the same bleeding hearts that think it is okay for illegal/ legals to work or not work and also collect welfare because they need more money to live.
Solution get rid of welfare for adults and give voucher for food and clothing only for the children nothing else.
That would solve two problems immediately.
Illegal won't come and legals will have to work or starve like the countries they come from.

Ken, not everyone on welfare can work in those jobs, some of them are permenently disabled and incapable of working(mentally ill, I don't think any of us want sociopaths working in Mcdonald's).
Then there are lifetimers that refuse to work at any job regardless of the pay and you might send them to work today but tomorrow they will quit that job.

When employers actually start hiring them instead of asking their illegal workers to bring more illegal workers, then many of them will. But you know this.
