that you "cracked their shell" ...and they don't know how they feel about that... how should you respond?

He said, "you're just good at everything. You've really cracked my shell - and I don't know how I feel about that..."

I assume it's a good thing, but now that he's said that - he's backing off a little bit. I am giving him his space. I always have, so it's not like I am all over the guy calling him and everything. He's no the type of guy who likes to feel vulnerable.

It is a good thing. It means he finds himself vulnerable to you. However, men are raised to never ever be vulnerable so he's really uncomfortable with it. Not to worry. Appreciate him oodles when he does something nice for you. Find out what he likes to see you in and wear it. Just stay the course and you'll know if he's for real.

He's telling you that he's opened up to you and that scares him. By revealing himself to you it has put him in a vulnerable place. He's realizing how much he cares about you. It's good that you are giving him some space.

It sounds as if he's intimidated and not familiar with how to use the phrase "cracked my shell".

If you're good at everything, he probably feels intimidated that you are better at things that he takes pride in. This can make him feel inferior to you. Almost like you're putting him in his place without trying. Let him know about things he's better at than you (as long as they aren't trifeling).
