obviously a nurse anesthetist is going to make more money than a nurse practitioner. They go to school longer. As for which one you should be... you must have your heart in it or you will never feel fulfilled nor do your best work- which you must do as people's lives are in your hands. They are both wonderful, worthy professions- you just have to decide which would be the most wonderful and worthy FOR YOU!

Nurse practitioner will have better hours than a anesthesia nurse and presently is more employable. You need a degree so in Ontario 4 years for RN, then 1 for masters then you need and I believe it's another two years for nurse practitioner. Anesthesia nurse may not take as long.
I would guess the yearly salary to be between $75,000 and 100,000 If you serve a remote area you will also get isolation pay, which can bring your salary up to 150,000

For NP, the starting yearly salary is about 70 grand and can be up to 95 grand...schooling is two years for an MSN after you are and RN....

For a CRNA...the yearly salary is more then 100 grand....but the schooling is about 2 to 3 years in length and they require you to have a BSN prior to entering...and more than a yrs experience...

Im planning on doing the NP program since you are like a MD...you can write some Rx..and can work in any part of the hospital and even open your own practice...you can be an NP in urgent care, family medicine, womens health, etc..

For sure anesthesia nurse pays more.

Anesthesia nurse:
1) about 90K or more.
2) first BSN, then they got a special schooling for that field, where in some programs it only accepts four students a year!

LNP:
1) about 70K
2) Masters in nursing, specialization in Family Nurse Pract or other.

I would love the LNP(licensed nurse practitioner) more. Hell, that's what I'm aiming for!
