I went to visit my father on Sunday and I was told that the prison was on lockdown and no visits.

I'd say Swthollietoes pretty much hits the nail on the head.

What would get you a better response is a telephone call to the jail where they could give you better information since...afterall...it IS their jail!

Having once worked in a prison in the northeast part of our country, I can say that the lockdown could be for many reasons, such as:

(1) An inmate missing
(2) Something missing from any part of the prison
(3) A serious illness within the prison walls
(4) A foiled escape

It could be a number of things that has caused a lockdown. It goes with the territory

KCV...If someone called the prison where I worked & tryed to find out why the lockdown, they would NOT be told a thing.

lockdown happens very frequently. could be anything from a fight to a a count that come up short, to a weapon or escape device being found. could be many things. usually only happens for a few hours

probably due to an uprising inside the prison. they do that you know....its not a country club, its a building filled with mean convicted felons....not nice people......
