What you drink will have more effect on your hangover if any than what you eat.

Eat a good meal so that you don't get drunk really quickly. I would eat something filling with some staying power, whatever works for you. For me it would be Italian food, good chicken parm.

To avoid the hangover, don't drink beer, don't drink wine - drink one kind of liquor mixed with something that isn't sweet or creamy. Something like vodka and club soda. If you mix your alcohols plan on driving the porcelain bus.

Eat a big meal. Red meat seems to line my stomach the best. I usually go for a burger and fries, that really fills me up. Whatever you eat, make sure it's very filling with a mix of protein and carbs. But don't stuff yourself, or else you won't want to drink.

While you're drinking keep in mind that clear liquors are easier on the hangover (they have less impurities that your body has to filter out). Try not to mix too many types of alcohol, that's a sure recipe for disaster. Also, sweet drinks may go down easy, but they hurt more in the end. And...

DRINK WATER while your partying. This'll help a lot!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Start with having a designated driver! Or take a cab! Try having a B12 vitamin before going out and take another with lots of water in the morning. Having a good base of protein and carbs can't hurt. Remember nothing cause a hangover more that mixing your cocktails. Stick to one kind. Good Luck!

there's really nothing you can eat before going out that will prevent a hangover. but make sure that you do have a good amount of food in your stomach before you go out. when you get home have a big glass of water and take a couple advil or alleve. if you do have a hangover in the morning, bananas are good, and so is gatorade.

Well my getting drunk days are behind me, however, I've found the best fix for a hangover that I've found is a Big Classic cheeseburger from Wendy's.
True story.

Best way to prevent a hangover is not to get smashed. Enjoy your 21st birthday, but don't get wasted in the process. That will assure you have a great time without the after-effects.
