I am 18 years old, and have experience in dealing with animals. I applied at Petsmart 3 times (2 different store locations). The third time I applied, I spoke to the manager of the store. I told him, that I do have experience with animals and I also told him, that I was willing to do the job. This does not make sense, but he refused to give me an interview. I filled out the online application perfectly. I have been turned down for every job, that applied for. An employer isn't going to know how successful I will be, until I'm given a chance.

Job applications and interviews can get a bit funny at times. Sometimes, a firm or company may have a specific person in mind but will still have to advertise and/or do interviews in order to follow labor laws or company policy. It also is not at all unusual for some supervisors to fear for the safety of their own positions and/or power. After all, no one wants to lose their job to a new hire who does better work than they do, or lose out on a promotion for the same reason.

Maybe they just didn't have any openings right then. Or maybe your conversation with the store manager turned him off by showing too much "attitude". Think about how you are coming across to a potential employer.
