If she's inside, look EVERYWHERE, including under dressers and other things you don't think she'd be able to get under. You'd be surprised at the small spaces cats can fit into.

If there's a chance she is outside, you should check the bushes and under cars near your house and call her name. If you can't find her within a few hours, you might want to print Missing Cat posters with your contact info and a description/picture of your cat.

Good luck finding her!

Unfortunately, you left out many important factors. How old is your cat, and is your cat spayed or neutered? Is your cat indoor only, and simply escaped through an open door?

If your cat is mainly indoors, and is spayed or neutered, the chances are your cat has remained fairly close to where home and food is.

You look around the neighborhood, and ask neighbors. Notify animal control in the event they have your cat, so they can return your cat. And you can go outside and read. Yes, read to your cat. What you are doing is providing a normal tone of your voice as a homing beacon for your cat to home in on.

If your cat is not spayed or neutered, then you may have much more difficulty.

Put an ad in the paper. Put out posters of missing cat around the neighborhood. Ask neighbors first to keep an eye out for the cat. Call the pound to tell them the situation. :) Good luck hun!

My cat was missing before. If she is an outside cat check people houses. My cat was locked in a garage for 2 days and became very skinny. Ask people if they've seen her. Also check local animals shelters maybe someone found her and brought her there. Maybe even the woods or something. I hope you find her!!

well how long has she been missing? if its only about 2 - 3 days then she will probably come back home on her own. if it has been longer than that then call the local animal shelters, post fliers, do whatever it takes. im really sorry about your cat. is this cat an outdoor cat or did she make a run for the door?

call up the local humane society and ask if they have found a cat meeting your description. this is essential since your cat will be euthanized if you dont claim her. next, try all your neighbors houses and ask them to keep an eye out. especially check the neighbors who have cats. one particularly large cat was not found until he'd grown so fat on other cats' food that he got stuck in a neighbors kitty door. while youre searching for the kitty, call her name while shaking a bag of her food or with an open can of wet food. also, check cool, shaded places around your house she may be lounging in. finally, keep an ear out. pets have been known to find weird hiding places, sometimes even inside walls.

Start by looking very closely around your house or apartment, it could be just hiding under a bush, call it's name, shake a food bag, do what you do to get it to come to you. Ask your neighbors if they've seen it or will call you if they do, MAKE them take your number. Ask if you can look in their yards. Call the shelters with a description, go to the shelters to look. Put up flyers with it's picture on them. Run an ad in the paper. Put it's cat box outside so it can pick up the scent, put an article of clothing that you have worn recently outside so it can pick up the scent.

If shes inside the house lure her out with food. If shes outside their is 2 possibilties :
1. some cats run away because they dont wanna upset you. why,? beacause cat can sense when they die.(no need to be upset Im sure thats not the reason)

2. they are just hunting for food and will come back!

If you live in Chinatown in San Fransisco....

step 1: go outside

step 2: walk to the house across the street

step 3: go in the house

step 4: look in the kitchen

step 5: find the cat on the pot on the stove

I had a cat once when I lived in the city. He took off for 3 days and I didn't think he'd come back. But he finally did.
Hope you find yours.
