I went to see Evan Almighty yesterday. I thought it was extremely funny, and it had a very good moral, and in my opinion, portrayed God as a God I would like to believe in if I didn't already... He had a sense of humor, a purpose, and wanted only to take care of His children. But many other Christians I've talked to tell me it's "sacreligious" and we should boycott it. I just looked at it as a funny movie that actually portrayed God in a good light... what's so wrong about that? What do you think, sacreligious? If you're a non-Christian, what did you think about the movie?

Those kind of people can never be pleased. I mean, a movie came out that lightheartedly makes God approachable to people, and they are unhappy about it? They need to loosen up.

I don't think it's sacreligious. I'm a Christian who has seen many examples in his lifetime of God having a sense of humor. He made us in His own image, according to scripture, so if we have a sense of humor, it must be from Him.

I think that Christians who find it to be sacreligious are probably taking themselves a little too seriously.

I guess that if it offends some, you shouldn't attend the movie or discuss it with those whom it offends, but I suspect that the Lord finds it humorous as well.

Most people think its sacreligious because the "god" was black and because it wasent truly what happend with the whole ark thing in the bible. you are wright it was just a humerous movie but some people took it too seriously. some ppl are very strick with there religion and making noah building the ark into some thing funny with fasle things that didnt happen was very offenceive to many. And i personally think that no one noes what color God is he could be any color. Pretty much its just plain ignorance. As long as they portrayed God as God theres nothing wrong with it!

first it is a movie. i dont believe in watching movies unless they are christian movies. i dont have tv or anything else either. so i cant say because i dont know about the movie. i dont know if it went to flooding the earth again? for a second time? or never did that at all or what. or if it flooded the earth but for the first time. if it had any swearing at all i would boycott as a christian for sure. there are many jokes i have heard that to many are funny but as a christian i should not laugh at. only you can decide what you thought about it. it is between you and God.

Some Christians think that everything that isn't of Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, or The Passion-caliber is sacrilegious. Especially funny movies, for what could be funny about God? And god forbid if *my* God's a black guy (Christians that I know would have used another word for that...).

Random stuff like that.

People want to boycott for the sake of boycott without looking at the message being given, that being said I think the movie takes comedy to the lowest common denominator and is worse than the original. Movies on all subjects have a right to be made because they express different viewpoints, we shouldn't stop people from exploring different views simply because they differ from ours.

Of course it's not sacreligious. The people who are proclaiming it to be so are probably the same people who burn Harry Potter books and forbid their children to any band that sings anything other than horribly repetitive worship music. It was a cute--and harmless-movie. Pay no attention to people looking to draw attention to themselves--it's the real-life equivalent to feeding the trolls.

Movies are movies and they are here for our entertainment. I am a STRONG CHRISTIAN and I don't see how that is Sacreligious! The movie just basically shows us what would happen if God were man. I think its an eyeopener to our frailties and mistakes as human beings. A wide eyeopener!!!

first off, i thought it was a great family movie that was actually funny for the adults in the audience. but when i went on yahoo movie reviews before i went, i saw a lot of people squabbling about the flood. the issue with christians (at least the ones i heard hollering) isn't as much the portrayal of god, but rather the notion that god would send another flood when the bible supposedly definitively says god would never do that again. i dunno, personally i thought it was a great movie that expressed what christianity is supposed to be. i'm not christian, though, so maybe it's easier for me to remove myself from it.

I'm Christian and I thought the movie was funny too. it gave a good massage (ARK). and you're right, it portrayed God as a God with a good sense of humor. there was nothing wrong with that movie at all.

Portraying god in a movie is just a touchy subject for Christians. My mom was adamantly against it but I personally think it's ok. I mean it's not like they're making God look like something he's not, ya know?
