stuff like bread, eggs, bags of chips should be on top so they don't crushed. Also look at who is going to be carrying the bags. If you have someone who is like 70 you might want to keep them lighter than someone who is in their 30's. also any household cleaner should be in a seperate bag. Frozen together and other cold product, along with produce in seperate bags again thought heavy on bottom you don't want tomotoes on bottom and then a cauliflower head on top of them. hope this helps..

Don't put any raw meat with other foods for the same reason.
Don't put any sort of chemicals (detergents, soaps, bleach) in with food. Don't put heavy things in with soft things like bread, fruits and veggies.
Try and group things that are the same category when you bag, put all veggies together rather than spread out among many bags. This helps a lot when putting the groceries away.
Put frozen things together so they were not thaw as much on the way home.

They really should have trained you, beyond the example you mention.

Don't make a bag too heavy - remember the customer has to lift it.

Crushable items on top - or usually in a separate bag.

Frozen items together.
