Not for Free, for $250 you can buy the upgrade version from Works. Althought the price is insane, but pirating software is ilegal and you don't get the full support and the ease of mind of using it especially for this essential software that you might use daily. This is exactly what I had to do even though I know couple of sites that has "free" software, all the torrent sites has it for download. The choice is yours.

There are not usually free version available unless they are "illegal" and it is tougher to use unlicensed versions when using Vista. There are lower end tools available from Microsoft that will give you some functionality of Excel or Word. You may want to try using Google's Docs and Spreadsheets on-line tools. They will allow you to work with both Excel and Word files on-line

You can not get MS Word or Excell for free legally.
I would suggest using either an online Doc site like
Google Docs
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=writely
Think Free
http://www.thinkfree.com/
Zoho Docs
http://writer.zoho.com/
Or Getting Open Office 2.2 It is a free equivalent to the MS Office Suite.

Go to amazon.com and buy MS Office Home and Student 2007 for $109.99 USD with free shipping direct from Amazon.
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - that's like $35 each.
Come on - just go buy it, it's almost free.
