I have tried all kinds of brownie mixes including the ones prepakaged that you just spread into the pan? They don't get done and are half baked and then when I bake them past the timing suggested that become very hard? Any suggestion out their?

the usuual temp for brownies is 350 but if you are in higher altitude it may differ, if you are using a darker pan this could cause them to cook quicker as well. just try spreading it as evenly as possible and when a toothpick or fork comes out clen when stuck in the very center they are done

Check the size of your pan. If it's too big, they won't bake properly. And the other suggestions about checking your oven has the proper temperature are good. It could be that there is something wrong with your oven; if they are half baked, it may be the element in your oven isn't working properly.

They are probably cooking too fast. You could get an oven thermometer and check that your oven really is the temperature you set it at. Or, just try cooking your brownies about 25 degrees cooler on the dial.
