Do you think it would be okay to still have a toast if we aren't having booze? His family is very religious and does not drink so we have to wait until after the reception to break out the booze. LOL Anyway.. should we have flutes with sparkling cider or something?

I think champagne flutes with a nice cider is a wonderful idea. The fact that you are honoring his parents by going non alcoholic is wonderful..

Yes, absolutely! Just because they don't drink doesnt mean you cant still celebrate. The toast gives everyone a chance to wish you well and toast to your new marriage. Use sparkling cider, 7-up, or ginger ale, whichever you like better. It all looks about the same in a glass.

Actually, you'd be surprised at the number of people who don't use alcohol when they toast at weddings. The most popular choice I've seen is ginger ale because it looks so much like bubbly champagne. I've even seen couples who toasted with punch the same color as the theme color. You can have whatever you want in those glasses!

I think a non-alcoholic toast is totally acceptable. The words are what makes the toast memorable, the liquid in the glasses is not the critical point.

Another side benefit is that you won't get one of those memorable, yet horrifying moments with a drunken slurred toast about an embarassing moment...

At my church there is a no-alcohol policy, and my fiancé and I aren’t big drinkers in the first place, so we don’t mind.

We’re going to get champagne flutes and a variety of sparkling juices so that it’s still somewhat elegant.

So, of course, I think it's a great idea.

We did a non alcoholic wedding as well and we just used sparkling cider instead of champaigne.

Definitely have the toasts! This is a very enjoyable time for everyone & you shouldn't miss it! Just tell whoever is making toasts to say"Please raise your glasses in helping me toast the bride and groom" at the end of their speechs.

It really doesn't matter what you have in them. Use punch, water, tea, whatever!

Between myself and my husband we had several recovering alcoholics at our wedding so we kept our reception non-alcoholic in support of their sobriety. We did have a toast with sparkling grape-juice. So, go ahead and toast with what ever beverage you have.

Good luck and God Bless

Yes, we used sparkling peach cider. We got it at Walmart for $3.95 a bottle. Everyone loved it! We still used flutes...
