There are trickster and holy fool figures in many traditions, providing biting insights that fall outside of more sober logical thinking.
One example from Islam is Mullah Nasruddin ...
Nasruddin was on his hands and knees below a street lamp one evening. A constable came by and asked what he was doing. Nasruddin said, "I'm looking for my house key."
The constable got down with him to help him search. After some time, the constable asked, "Are you sure this is where you dropped your key?"
Nasruddin said, "Oh no, I dropped it by the door of my house. But the light is better here."

Hahaha. This funny. The clowns are the people who preach the meek shall inherit the earth, but on a weekly basis "rob God's people" I think Kirk Franklin is a clown.

Clowns are demons children. Scary. Never trust clowns, Arby's takeout, TV Evangelists or politicians.

usually they are the ones behind the pulpit or microphone asking for more $$ or God will take them home.
Also think of this. Did the clowns get make up ideas from Tammy Faye back in the 80's or was it the other way around?

Never ever heard of clowns being part of any religion. When and where did you hear this, and what were you smoking/drinking when you came across this question?

My church wants to institute a clown ministry. It will help the children to better understand Scripture and will put it on a level that children can understand. It is a WONDERFUL ministry.

Spanky: Search your Bible and you'll not find the word
"clowns" in it anywhere. Therefore, they do not fit into
religion. It's just a fad to make people (especially kids)
laugh.

Hopi clowns help people avoid things that are foolish. They ridicule things that are taken too seriously.

As a kid I was convinced they were representatives of the devil, and I can't say my opinion of them has changed much since.
Urgh, clowns!

The Rev. Ian Paisley is a right clown.
Of course there are silly questions here, Christie. All the kiddies have finished their homework.
