I agree with Girl Wonder.
Does being modest mean not showing anything but the eyes?
Does it mean not showing ankles (used to), not showing breasts,or what?
Modesty has to do with what a culture says it is. It is not an objective concept.

It was locked in a cage and fed to starved wolves as pride incarnate pointed and laughed. He is currently the real president of the United States, whereas patriotism is Secretary of State. Poor modesty; humility, you're next. Run, run while you still can!

modesty is defined by the society and culture or which you are a part.... if you do not like the definition then join a different group... unfortunatly... in this day it is not easy to avoid the assaults of conflicting definitions...given TV, movies, internet, blatent disregard for the basic respect of others, etc,etc...

Well, I believe in modesty. I don't wear anything sleeveless, anything that shows my belly, or anything shorter then just above the knee. I don't believe in bikini's- only one pieces for me thanks!!! I believe that showing respect for our bodies is something that can lead us closer to God. I also don't want people to see me as a loose woman with no morals!!!

I have daughters and so I am keenly aware of this modesty issue.... are you refering to showing skin?

If you are, than just know that I am on the case - one kid (well, two in my case) at a time!

You mean like women that wear burkhas to the beach? Or the Amish that won't use buttons?

That's not modesty. That's insanity.

The great marketing machine has done an excellent job in training our young people that you should show all your family jewels and be a me-me-me, buy-buy-buy person or you are not hip and cool. What a shame.

We seem to be sliding down a slippery slope, propelled by provocative entertainment.

We are teased by Hollywood to raise hem lines etc.
