You can't change the native display resolution. However you want to configure your devices to output over component 720p if possible with 1080i as a alternative if the source does not have a good progressive video option. If you are using HDMI you have no choice in the mater and the TV must do all the video processing. Not My first choice.

You do have the option of using a Home theater receiver or video processor for everything except HDMI. This would be the ultimate solution for maximizing your resolution.

I believe the resolution is set by the device outputting the signal ( DVD player, cable box, DVR, VCR). Your HDTV will adjust to the signal.

You can't change it....it accepts ALL signals and processes them to be viewed on your display.

The only way to change the signal is to change the Source's Video output settings, you can do that in the DVD/Game's menu....
