Two grandmothers, with their two granddaughters,
Two husbands, with their two wives,
Two fathers, with their two daughters,
Two mothers, with their two sons,
Two maidens, with their two mothers,
Two sisters, with their two brothers,
Yet only six in all lie buried here,
All born legitimate, from incest clear.
Explain how this may be.

The two Grandmothers account for the mothers as well
The two males are husbands, fathers, brothers and sons
The other two females are the granddaughters, daughters, sisters and maidens.

2 grandmothers have 2 grand daughters. 2 grand daughters are wives of 2 men (husbands). These 2 men are fathers of the 2 daughters bore by thier wives. They've also had 2 sons.
The 2 daughters are maidens(unmarried) and are sisters of the two sons. Theres 6 in all and all are legitimate relationships.
I'm probably wrong but at least I tried....huh

The grandmothers, mothers, and wives are the same people. The husbands and fathers are the same. The daughters, maidens, and sisters are the same. And the brothers and sons are all the same people.

a mess of siamese twins?
Okay, I got the answer from the other responders. It may not be illegitimate or incest but it's still pretty sick. Look at it like this: If my dad and my best friends' dad died, then he married my mom and I married his mom, and then we'd have to have sex with them (think about this and your best friend's mom and then your best friend with your mom -- kinda starts to make you squeamish, doesn't it?) and then you'd have daughters. It'd probably be pretty awkward talking to your best friend after that, wouldn't it? And would you still have to call her "Mrs."?
Why did our dads have to die, couldn't they just have gotten divorced? And Finally, why are they all buried together? Did one of them eventually get weirded out enough to go on a multiple murder suicide spree?
