There are some tender glands all around the neck. If you were getting an infection and a gland were beginning to swell that could be causing it. You could be getting a summer cold from going outside into the sweltering heat, then turning around and going into the air conditioning. (You know you should cool down first, right?)
If something were on your mind and if it were bugging you, you might go through any number of things that would show that this is stress. You could be grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw. You could have a vitamin deficiency from being out in the sun too long and sweating it out. You could be irritable or angry. You could be worrying about something. Have you tried feeling around back there to see if you can find a sore spot? You could have pinched a nerve and this is just soreness.
If it bothers you a lot you can always get a ziploc bag and put some ice in it, and leave it on there for 20 minutes. Then try stretching it out and see if something doesn't pop and loosen up a bit. You could have just slept on it wrong and now it's stiff. It could be lot of things but it doesn't necessarily have to be a sickness.

this could be from stress or muscle tension. Have an examination by your medical doctor to find out exactly what is causing this pain. That's the only way you're really going to have an answer.
