My husband and I have three cats. Two of them are mammas babies and always hang around me and go to me. The youngest one always goes to him and could care less about me unless I have food. He is more playful and lets her claw him etc. Could that be why?

Cats are funny that way. They're either loyal to just one person, or love everybody (my current cat is the latter type - he doesn't care who it is, as long as they give him attention). I even had a cat that didn't like anybody, unless they were sitting in a certain chair - as soon as you sat in that chair, she was on your lap and purring! But any other time, she ignored you. Some cats just form an attachment to one person for reasons unknown - it's normal.

Well, it could have to do with gender, or who spent more time with them when you first got them.
It could even be a matter of personality, most cats either like A. the person who walks around a lot, and opens un-searched doors B. The person who lounges a lot, thus getting a warm lap and scratch on the head or C. The person who's always playing with them or sneaking them an spare piece of chicken.

Cats tend to bond to one person. I've never really seen any pattern to it, they just pick a person they like best for their own reasons. We have 4 cats and 2 of them prefer my fiance, the other 2 prefer me. Although sometimes they switch.

Cats choose the person that they want to be friendly with. My male cat chose me, and is always by my side and cries when I am not near him or talking to him. He will not quiet down or even eat if it isn't me paying attention or me feeding him. My female, chose my older sister. When my older sister isn't here (which is 90% of the time) my female will bond with me until my older sister comes home.

Nope some cats just have their favorites just like people do.
