If it is my destiny to die in a car accident or be born an orphan in Darfur after having to watch my mother get raped and murdered in front of me, then my "free will" is therefore meaningless.

Please christians say something that makes some semblance of common sense!!!!

People, how many times have you heard "god has a reason for you"

Please, there isnt a god. Suicide? Would the christian god or any god put someone here to commit suicide, or even murder, rape, etc. Everyone has free will without the interference of god. If you truly believe god has a plan for you, why not just sit and wait for things to happen? Unless some of you already do that...

There is freewill and although Jah has 360 degrees of wisdom he has not 'predestined' our lives.
Just as if you see a blind man walking towards a pit and not heading your warning you know that man is heading for a fall, our Creator,Jehovah, can tell us what will happen if we don't follow his instructions.
Because of free will some choose the way of Satan.
People must understand, when the perfect couple chose to follow the snake in the garden of Eden, they were saying they could make their own laws up as to what was right or wrong (Gen.3:4)
Even though Jah could have scrubbed the whole thing and started over He allowed Adam and Eve to have children because in Gen.1:26-31,Jehovah stated the purpose of creating the earth and humans. That purpose had not changed.
But Satan had lied and chalenged The Creator's ability to rule the universe by saying that Jah lied and was holding something back from humans.(Gen.3:1-5.Destroying everything would not have proven Satan wrong. It would have just showed that Jah had unlimited power.(Remember, there are also hevenly creatures that are watching this drama unfold and wondering what Jah would do.)
In Gen.3:15 Jah gave the first prophesy and bit of hope for human kind.
From that time to this Satan has been the ruler of this world.
In Matt.4:8 we read where Satan tempted Jesus with all the kingdoms of the world. It would not have been a temptation if Satan did not posess the kingdoms of the world.(it would be like me offering you a billion dollars to spit in the president's face. You know I don't have a billion dollars so there is no temptation. But if Bill Gates made the same offer, you might think more seriously on the offer.)
Please read John12:31,John14:30,John 16:11.
There are two very important scriptures you should read and remember.James 1:13 and1 John 4:8.
Satan would have us believe that Jah is cruel and condeming when it is actually Satan that is causing the trouble.
But,his end is enevitable.Jah is already at work.Check out the book of Revelations. It's all there in black and white.
Keep the faith.
Sincerely.
(My spell check is on the fritz so please excuse any words I may have misspelled!)

God may have a plan for mankind as a group and may take action to effect the life of an individual but god does not have a specific script for each and every person that they are compelled to obey. We have free will to make our own choices and live our own lives.
The decision to have faith is a decision which means the person who decides must exercise free will to do so. The same thing applies with obeying the commandments, believing in Christ, forgiving your neighbor. All of these are choices made which means you have free will. It also means you are responsible for your choices because that is the price of free will.

Nothing is actually free after all.

Note: Many people state that if God is omniscient then free will cannot exist. That would only be true if omniscience also includes detailed knowledge of everything that has not happened yet (all that shall be) If a thing has not happened then one cannot know of it. This is a simple paradox and there is no requirement that God must contradict itself. Omniscience is the ability of perceiving all that can be perceived. What has not happened cannot be known because it has not happened.

Subnote: In the event that I am wrong I don't care because in that case I was destined to be so its not my fault, further more I was destined not to care.

I say the point of having free will is so you do not get trapped in the current condition that you are in. Having the ability to create ideas and focus on change. I do not agree with following some sort of pre-destined plan. I believe there is always a way to make a difference. If you were not able to change something the way you wanted, don't give up on life and the ability to change. Somethings may seem like destiny but in reality were based on other peoples choices and events that took place. With free will, these events i believe can be altered by prayer, magickal, and mundane ways to your will.

Greetings, Our prayer is to get the will of God completed in our lives, the kinfolk, the church and the worldwide. god has revealed each and every thing in the scripture in the path of the prophets (Amos.3:7). subsequently we ought to continuously pray that god's plans be completed and fulfilled. Our prayers convey God's plan in implementation. If we don't pray, god's plan/will might proceed to be unfulfilled (Mat.6:10). God does only those that are stable for us (Rom.8:28 / Isa.fifty 5:8-9). God has a time to artwork (Jn.2:4 / Acts.15:17-18 / Eccl.3:a million,11). faith isn't against reason yet previous reason

Really, the evidence is clear god doesnt have any control of our destiny.
Man sinned god didnt want that, he flooded the earth the first time because it got so wicked and hes going to do it again as written in revelations.
To boil it all down this reasoning applies to all the 720 promises in the bible in relation to all the ones that accept Jesus as god.
The people that walk the walk, the beleivers.
As noah knew when to build the ark because he beleived.
God gave the warning and Noah took heed.
So destiny is really warnings from god, as
god knows our destiny but does not control our choices.

Predestination is a word thats not scriptual,
its theology hiding the real deal.

Good question, i've wrestled with similar stuff for a while (i still do)
God does have a plan for each person, but we still have our free will. You might have little choice about the things that you mentioned above... those are things that you can't control.
Like you can't control which circumstances you're born into but there's things that you can control.
You don't know what happens in the future but you can choose to live life fully on a daily basis. You have the choice to love or to hate, to help or to reject other people to make a difference or to just live selfishly.
I hope that helped.

It's an either or dichtomy. You have either have free will, OR you are predestined.

If you're predestined, then free will IS meaningless. Whatever happens is a result of God making something happen. You have no more control over your destiny than a machine or a robot.

Now, on the other hand, if you have free will, then the choices you make have meaning. You are responsible for your actions. You can decide what to do with your life. It's up to you.

I'm a Christian and I dunno how much common sense this is, but:

God gave us free will. I don't believe for a second that God has everything in our lives mapped out. I think we surprise God sometimes as much as we surprise ourselves with some of the things we do.

God might be able to predict some of the things that we're going to do by observing our actions in the present, but so could anybody, with enough information.

Predestination is just a security-blanket for people who want to believe that whatever happens to them, they don't have to take responsibility because "God ordained". They don't have to do the hard faith-work of wrestling with evil, because when something bad happens they can just say "Oh, well. God does all things for a reason."

Baloney.

God gave us free with and expects us to use it.

Just because God knows what our future will be, doesn't mean He destined it to be so. He simply knows. That's why He knows the number of our days. We do have free will. So do the angels. That's why satan is in the position he is now. Because of free will. He CHOSE to go against God. You can choose God, or not. That is free will. However, God did not say there would be no consequences for making the wrong choice. But, the choice is yours, nevertheless. Hope this cleared it up for you. God Bless
